Parallel wiring of Sub

Silly question....when wiring a sub in this fashion....is there a rule that a wire Has to go from one polar to the next...Then to a speaker terminal..... want to run 8 ga wire....when spliced together they don't fit.... Can I run the wires so that they are in a Y configuration??

Why are you wanting to run 8 gauge wire to the single sub?
