Panasonic vs. Pioneer

I think Panasonic's 990 is a very nice unit. I'm a Pioneer guy all the way but they do look nice. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Everyone seems to be a Pioneer fan. Is that just because they are more well known? IDK, but I think the Panasonics are a much better value, and if there aren't any serious problems or drawbacks of their HU's, then I'll probably be going with a Panasonic when I get the cash...

Any more input on either brand HU?

I guess it would depend on how much expanding you want to do. I mean as far as I know Panasonic doesn't make an XM or Sirius tuner. If that doesn't mean anything to you then it won't really matter to you. All I know is that Pioneer has alot more years experience in high end while Panasonic is just now dabbling in that market. Just something to think about. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

^^^ya. also it seems that panasonics have worse sq than the pioneer, kenwood, alpine big boys. I switched out my panasonic with my kenwood excelon, and the sq was a world of difference

Thats something I was looking to hear. I'll take a look at the Excelon HU's... They're pretty decently priced, aren't they?

My JVC has shit for SQ.

I wanted to know this to! The panasonics seem to have more preouts and always seem to have higher voltage than the pioneers.... well from the lower, cheaper models that I've seen anyways.

the positives about panasonic tho:

7 band eq on the mid models, the bright blue backlight (might not appeal to some, but i like it), the crossovers, ease of use, the in-deck wattage 25x4rms, and visibilty in the sun.
