over powering speakers

Many, many, many subs will take a lot more power than they are rated for. There are 600 watt subs out there that will take twice that all day long, every day. As long as you don't mechanically damage the sub or send it a clipped signal you are probably good. Also keep in mind that the subs will rarely see peak power.

My experience says that for most people, usually, overpowering subs doesn't really gain much, especially for daily or music. Actual power levels...
