Output and SQ questions

Wow you guys trashed this guys thread. Who cares about your horns. No one, so help out the op. What he really wants is some clean bass. Not just any subwoofer can produce this clean bass. He also wants it to get satisfyingly loud, but still sound clean. Why cant yall help him out?
I don't know about his horns, but I care about mine. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My pair of idmaxs keep up nicely.

i was referring to the the 4 6X9"s in the front stage. i think matt @ id put 6 of those drivers in his boat. imagine 4 in your front stage. mega loud... and clean!!! i was told my 2 idmax 12"s ported with 2000 watts would not be able to keep up. end of discussion...

blasphemy
i think if you have clean and clear mids and highs all the way up to lets say 130db's, thats just to **** loud to sound good.

but for true SQ where everything blends nicely and images well, 4 12's or 2 15's are just not needed. there is no way to get mids and highs to sound just as loud as 140db's of bass and still sound good. it won't happen in a car. this of course is if you are looking for a pretty flat response. flat response, even at 130 db's just aint gonna happen and is just to **** loud anyway.

I wouldn't do my system any justice if I didn't turn it up near 130dB //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif It also still has great imaging at that level.

Yeah, If your stereo don't "sound good at high levels" work on it!

Wow, talk about a post explosion. I have 200 to spend. I dont care if it is on components or if I sell what I have and get a new sub (which is the route I was planning). I got lost in the arguing, so I will ask now. Which should be the primary focus at this point? From the way it sounds, adding a component set to the front stage would produce the greatest change. My main concern is keeping all the factory stuff under the hood (no big 3 upgrade, not new alt or battery). My head unit puts out 22 watts rms x4. I thought about just adding a component set and powering from hu. However, I hear I really need an amp, which I could do in my budget, but then I am concerned about a domino effect with the above mentioned. What do you guys think would help the most? Here is the component set I am considering:

Thanks to all who have stayed on topic, I appreciate it.

Man, don't "add" a comp set, that is all you need. (1 set) With amp of course, 4 chan. active even better, up to you what you want in the end

ok, when you crank it, your bass might be easily at 130 db's but your mid-bass, mid-range, and highs are not. plain and simple.

Not sure I completely understand this. Sorry, but I am new and dont know much about this, as you have probably figured out. As mentioned, I got 200 to work with, I will leave it all up to you guys for suggestions on how to spend it to improve my system.

depends on who's front stage your talking about....

dude, you got a real smartass mouth... you know that? the dude you keep debating with competes for image dynamics. i'm sure he has a lot more knowledge about car audio in general than you do....

there is no way your mids and highs are getting to 130dbs. and even if they did you wouldn't be able to stand to listen to it. bass at 130db's is nothing but mids at highs at those levels are crazy.

I think they are ignoring you and want to have their own conversation. Well those are some good comps, you can do better, but you have a low budget and you need an amp also. Those should be fine, and seem to be in a good price range. Im assuming you are going to keep your subs. You should build a new box for it, make it bigger and tuned lower maybe 33-36 hz. Going active in the front should work out well with a good 4 ch amp. With about 120 left, I suggest you go to the classifieds and get one there. Now you have a good sq setup there.
