Orion hcca 15", anyone else waiting?

Why would you say you'd put it up against any other woofer, then call out the DD on its price tag? The MSRP on that Orion isn't any better for what you're getting. It's not a bad sub, imo it can't touch the DD 9915. Power wise I highly doubt that Orion can handle more than the DD. If you threw it a burp at 6000w I doubt it'd take it the way a 9515 can.
If price doesn't matter, we could always compare it to the DD Z.
Supposedly there is a video on the Internet of people putting over 6k on the hcca for around 2 hours and it was still very much alive.

My Pyle sub can take 4000 watts. One time I hit 165db in my sealed prefab box, with the volume control on my Pyle 4000 watt amp halfway turned up.

Your comment is meant for what. You have no idea what I even have. But I will agree it is weak for what I wanna have now.

4 12's sealed is weak //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Sweat and good to know. Can I see some specs and can you get 4 of them to me for $525 each and what would the cost be to recone. Thanks, Russ

I will bet anything that you wont even need to have it reconed if you know what you are doing. SPL builds some stout subs.

On a side note if you are expecting to have to recone the sub before you even use it my suggestion is you dont get the sub. Just my .02. Are you planning on running this just as a spl truck because I have heard a friend with a hcca and clarity wise it *****. Yea it can move a lot of air but why have a sub that doesnt sound good?

I'm sure spl does build some good stuff, not gonna question that. Why would anyone want to recone a sub?, probably because even the best subs burn up from over powering. I would imagine if spl built the best subs possible and rated them at 5000wrms at 50hz he would not warrenty them if ran at 5000wrs at 27hz, of course thats m.o., and of course thats just a generic figure.

I have been listening to music for over 25 yrs, does low freq tones actually have a quality sound and what would I compare them to for comparison so I could hear the quality diff between a orion vrs any other. The thing I have noticed that after so much power, sound quality is irrelevant. Most people "imo" having 2 or more 15-18" subwoofers is not out for superior sound quality, if so then why that big or that many, again "imo" I think it's about how bad you can shake things up. Am I totally wrong here.

Lets get back to the original post, and if anyone can show me some numbers, specs, prices, availability etc than I'm all ears, everything else is just gossip and your own opininion.

Here is something to chew on, an AA Mayhem is very simular to a Lanzar opti1533d but a lot more cohunas. I bet peeps from both sides would battle it out over which 1 was better.

Thanks for the imput. Russ

Dont let these guys mislead you bro! I just recently sold 2 15 HCCA's and I was more than pleased. Had 5000 watts RMS going to em and did a 152 with a quick threw together box I built. Sound quality who the hell is looking for sound quality with SPL geared subs? I just thought Id chime in and say do it bro they are amazing subs and are actually closer to a 18" sub cone wise than a 15". They slam and IMO are some of the best looking subs made. Recones are kinda hard to find right now but I beat on mine all the time and never had a problem. If you have any questions or wanna know any specifics of anything I did I'd be more than happy to chat with you about it. Im regretting selling em and If I had it to do over again I would have definately kept em. Oh yeah if your looking I got the matching HCCA components that Id be willing to part with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
