Orion hcca 15", anyone else waiting?

Post was useful, if in fact you have used 1, if not it's just an opinion. Thanks Russ

lol...... some like the Quality of the output to be quite good, some dont

the HCCA bangs with the best of them, but SQ is really quite terrible..... their sensitivity (1w-1m) is very low, just like the amp made to power it, the Orion D5000 (2.5krms)... this thing has a sensitivity in the low 60db efficiency range, so its clear what the HCCA is designed for.....SPL

although if your buying one of these i dont think SQ is a primary concern anyway, so in awnser to your question OP about their availability (not what you should be running //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif), i'd send them an email..... cant get better than the horses mouth.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yea this made a lot of sence, I'm no sub expert but know the amount of coils is not gonna mean the sub can take twice the power. More coils mean smaller wire.

Thanks tho for sharing. Russ

Twice the voice coils, twice the output, bitches

Do you have experiance with an hcca? If not it's a matter of opinion, I never asked for those. Thanks, Russ

Why would you say you'd put it up against any other woofer, then call out the DD on its price tag? The MSRP on that Orion isn't any better for what you're getting. It's not a bad sub, imo it can't touch the DD 9915. Power wise I highly doubt that Orion can handle more than the DD. If you threw it a burp at 6000w I doubt it'd take it the way a 9515 can.
If price doesn't matter, we could always compare it to the DD Z.

Another useful post.

Russ

My Pyle sub can take 4000 watts. One time I hit 165db in my sealed prefab box, with the volume control on my Pyle 4000 watt amp halfway turned up.

Neither quote was directed towards you. My first post was to point out the MSRP of the Orion, which is well over the eBay selling price, isn't going to be better than the DD 9515 if you happened to purchase it off a forum such as this one. I actually considered the Orion HCCA among several other subwoofers back in March. A very good friend of mine who happens to own an HCCA let me sit in his car and listen to it. I loved the SPL it gave out and it didn't sound bad at all, which is why I said "imo it's not a bad sub." However, I have seen with my own 2 eyes the power a DD 9515 can take. I've seen people that send it 3K on music all day, and it eats it. There are even some people that run it at 4K, go look at the soundpressure forum and ask around how much some are running to their DD 9500 for daily drivers. I don't have ANY experience with sending an HCCA that amount of power (my friend had it on a D5000 which is 2.5K I believe) so yes I assumed the HCCA couldn't take the power a DD 9515 can.

The second post was obviously a joke, threads get too serious sometimes. In all actuality the HCCA is a ****** sub, just not the best out there like whats his face said.

cadence daytonas...drop in recones, cheap, spl oriented, great subs...

DD9515 can be had for 300 plus ship...i know, ive sold two at that price

great subs and better than the hcca...used nd heard both

I just think its funny how people talk about how much power this sub can take or that sub can take when Ive seen a 10 on 2000 watts destroy alot of multiple sub multiple amp setups. Who gives a crap that one sub can handle more than the other. Most of this sub vs sub crap is personal preference. My sub has a bigger **** than yours! Gah I get so tired of reading that crap on these **** forums.

The reason people get like that is because when it comes down to competitions you need something that can take loads of power

The hcca can take 4k daily. I have yet to see a dd9515 handle anything over 3k daily. As a matter of fact the shop down the road that has a 2500 on a 9515 and it gets hot after about 3 minutes of play time

I heard an 18" LMS Ultra and my 12" Dreadnaut is way louder off 1k rms than the TC off of 2k.
Two completely different subs, used in two completely different installs/vehicles. Until you test both in the same vehicle and in proper enclosures, there's really no comparison to be made.

In the next several weeks I'm getting a 3515 with a DD M2 to power it. It'll be seeing well over 2K. I have a hard time thinking a 9500 would struggle with 2.5k. Like I said, there are plenty of people running 3k on a 9500 series, hell there should be a few people on here that have done it as well. I'm fully aware the HCCA can take an assload of power, so I guess to each his own on this one. I wouldn't mind running one if I had the choice to be honest.
