Do i have to get an alt? what exactly does it do?? please don't flame, I don't know anything about car audio. Cars in general is a different story.

Well an alternator is more so related to the actual car part of the car, as opposed to the audio part of the car.

It's like a little generator that uses the engine's power, to feed electricity to the battery, so it can feed the electronics of the car. Something like that.
