What is the most expensive car subwoofer out there?

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif I bet there are some crazy ones out there for a few thousand. Anyone know?
yah there are but I'm sure they are not the best out there (at least in car audio)... however the new XXX's new "direct" priceing makes it look like it's made out of pure gold

It's not even that much compared to what else is out there. It is like 500 and change right? W7's are like 600 bucks,

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif 5,000 dollars for one subwoofer, what are they thinking?
OK, set up a shop for the kind of custom millwork it takes to build one, and then see what your pricing would be to make any kind of profit on one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

There's nothing else on the market that's remotely capable of true THX reference levels at those kinds of frequencies, entirely independent of room gain...

It's not a true "subwoofer", but Adire's Parthenon can be in the $5k-$6k range, depending on how you have it set up...
any more info on that thing? What is it if not a subwoofer? A normal speaker?

what kind of market are they in selling subwoofers for 5,000 dollars anyway?

1. It's a dipole driver, instead of having a "cone" you have an interchangeable baffle. Doesn't require any kind of enclosure...

2. $5K for a speaker is cheap in the HT world. Wilson Audio doesn't have any problems staying in business, and their speakers cost 70 to 80 thousand more than the Parthenon does //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

what makes a speaker worth 80 thousand dollars? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif
