Orion 2500 went up into smoke today

IIRC, Pioneer's go up to volume 62. Eclipse uses non-clipping preouts at full volume, except the subout. If you crank it up to max, 16. Then it clips @ volume 74/80. To get it to not clip on full volume. crank it to volume 11/16.
You may be right - i was going by the info contained in his original post - volume set at 52/52

Dam you and Chinny fok up all kinds of shit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

sounds like you shoulda bought some **** front speakers before buying 2 15's and a 2500d. Then you wouldn't need 52/52 on that jensen that prolly starts clipping at 1/2 that volume.........

So most of you guys agree that what caused this was me playing it at 52/52 even though I had the gain set at that volume?
No...

That could be the problem, but there are other things that it could be.

Input voltage fom the HU as stated above is one.

Current and or voltage drop is another two.

Clipping is another.

Over heating.

blah,

blah,

blah,

the way you listen to your music is bad for your speakers then. Prowler is right, your shitty headunit was clipping the hell out of your system. You should never have to crank the volume that high to get the levels you want.

Here Here

I have been worikng with RF and Audio for 27 Years.

The proper way to balance, Is to set the HU at 3/4 MAX then adjust your amps.

No Amplification stage stays linear at full BORE HU or for that matter Amplifiers

what voltage are the preamp outs on the jensen, and what front stage are you running? im guessing something like 2v and stock, get a decent head unit and some components or at least nice coax's before you get another amp or you're likely to do it again.

YES!!

You should tune your system so you dont have to push the actual radio to full potential. I have mine so max is 25/35....although I do have an interior amp, but this just allows the actual radio to take it easy, and lets the amp do most of the work.....

So you should get an interior amp, that way you could turn up the gains on the amp instead of the actual radio.

that sux man... i also fried my 2500d about 2 weeks ago... i also not sure as to what really happened. i had my subs unplugged from the amp, for i had just sold my subs...and i was on the way to my moms and all i saw was smoke...i figured it was voltage, since im running 15.3 volts... its costing me around 200$ to have fix..
