Orion 2500 gains low= bad?

OK heres my problem...I used to have two 15" Kicker L7s DVC 2 running off an Orion 2500 in parallel, therefor I had it running @ .5ohm. The gains were about half way on the amp and my subs blew right away (5mins). Now I have two 15" L7s DVC 4, running in parallel so now im running them @ 1ohm. My DMM broke so I couldn't set my gains properly so I decided to turn the gain all the way down to make sure the subs would not blow. Chinny and other people have told me to becareful because low voltage can lead my amp to blow. I don't want that to happen either so I was wondering if you guys think I should set my gains at 1/4th or leave them the way they are now?

My electrical system is stock. I have an 05 Ford Expedition (EB edition)

Stock alt- 130alt

Battery- 630cca

they were talking about input voltage not output, the dc voltage going into the amp not the av volts going into the speakers

why don't u run it at 2 ohms? that amp puts out 1800 at 2 ohms i beileve, still enough juice to push those l7's, at .5 ohm that amp wants/needs a lot of juice

Let me clear things up here....I no longer have DVC 2 I BLEW THEM...now I have DVC 4 so im running it @ 1ohm

yeh DMMs are fun, there is nothing wrong with the gain being all the way down thats how i have mine set

Before this thread gets out of hand...The 2500d will not fry if the voltage is too low, it has protection circuts built into it that keeps this from happening. With that said as long as the amp is not clipping the gain can be as low or high as you want. The gain all the way down will not hurt anything.
