I'm running the Alpine IVA w200 w/h701 processor. I got the processor for more tuning ability not for the multi channel 5.1 "junk", I really didn't thnk I was going to be watching very many movies in the car. Well after playing around with the setup I'm now watch movies in the car all the time. I love the fact that I'm watching them in 5.1 but as of right now it's not true 5.1 because I lack a center channel. I've been exploring some options. Alpine and eclipse have a few center channels in their line up but I not impressed by them.

Are their any other options or is a custom center channel setup the only way to go?

Anyone have a similar set up w/pics..

Why watch movies in the car?
When do you find time? Do you just like sit in the parking lot and watch movies? lol
to answer your question..

yes I do..

I have a busy work schedule and have a lot of down time in between, enough to actually watch a whole movie while sitting in my car. I spent a lot of time on the road

Now back to the subject!!

buy some 3" full range from madisound (or rip them out of some aiwa home speakers- i can get the model #) and run them off a small 1 channel amp 25 rms or so (like the one from the clarion srk5 center channel)

you don't want one of those out of the box options from clarion or alpine!

if you want to go big run some 4" coaxials or part of a 4" component set

I have the first option in my audi and the second in my explorer

how do you like the alpine stuff? does it have a regular toslink input? I'm thinking about switching to the 701 for my explorer (currently run dvh940 clarion)

do you get enough output with the setup?

I thinking of going using half of a component set (5.25) with about 100w rms..

Only thing is getting it to work in my dash, I sure cutting is going to be involved which I affaid of

I am very ahppy with the output of that set-up

it is in a car with only a jbl 755.6 powering gti components and gto series subs and it more then keeps up

if you have way more than that otherwise go with part of a component set
