Optima Bluetop + 200A Alt + Deka +3000W=FAIL!!

there is the chance your racing friend is pulling estimated numbers out of his ***. i don't trust street racers, but that's because i think they're sub-human, although i may be incorrect.
i really think another run of 1/0 will help you. it did wonders for me as well as others around here. like stated before there's a chance you're getting some ridiculous imp rise. how well is the box built and how close to manuf. specs?
and if you sell the car **** selling this system with it. uninstall this shit and put it into the new car you crazy ******* lol.
i MIGHT try the other run, i just know if Im going to sell this car I have to sell it soon... I can't conciously even sell it private party anymore...which SUCKS cause I could polly get 2k MORE than dealer (dealer estimate was 2500, I can get 4-4500 private)

Box is solid as hell... its like 5.8-6cu. ft after displ. tuned at bout 40hz. glued, screwed, caulked, resined, steel rods

and whoaaaaaa on sellin car WITH system..... def. NOT gonna happen, LOL!! have a good chunk of my life into this sytem (sad, i know) but its all i got to show after 8yrs of doin this.... takin shortcuts in the beginning killed me... I've only been doing my own installs for like 3-4 yrs though... just started boxes myself in the last year

One of the fukin screw hole rings on my HDC broke though :-(... i should prolly check to see if air is leakin through there at all.. EEEK!! can that cause an IMP rise??

i'd totally take you up on that, but as I said...the car is so f-ed up anyways, i gotta sell it, its just not worth the time/money, and the whole system has been such a b1tch in this car anyways

unfortunately im only going to get like 2500 for it, and i only have like another 2K to add onto that for a new car, so i'll prolly have to sell the system, or most of it at least....tryin to move outta my house finally, so every buck helps (i know i know, car audio> moving outta house right!!haha)

its a 99 nissan maxima... biggest box I got in there was like 6.5after displ.... full sheet metal back seat and rear deck, no fold down seats.. couldnt cut the sheet metal because the back seat bolt and hooks onto it... AND the biggest alt I could get for it was 200A... and thats from multiple sources...which is fine, BUT.......would be nice to have a LITTLE bigger, like 220, 250ish

i misread. thought you were considering selling the system in it. IMO **** selling the system at all. You'll have less cash for another car, but you will have a system for that car. God knows you'll just start over spending more money on a new setup. keep the shit you have as long as humanly possible.

get another 1/0 run for cheap. If you're lucky that'll help signifigantly. if you get another up front battery you may not be able to get that to fit in the new car. You should upgrade both, but IMO the wire should come first. Too often you pay alot of money for equipment with minimal noticeable gain in performance. This is a solid upgrade that is well worth it.

when in doubt about whether to sell all your equipment or not refer this this equation:

car audio > all

i've got 8k posts and i still have a weird voltage issue.

gas mileage is down 7-8 mpg from this system? There's something else wrong if you are losing any kind of measurable mileage with your system. It's not heavy enough and you aren't creating enough drag on the engine from just a 200a alt unless you have an alternator issue. What's the real problem?

Ditch the blue top. It's not right for what you are doing.

Find out what your alternator is actually putting out.

Did you do the Big3 right?

Got alt tested

Did big 3

and yes, it is enough weight/ drag on system for a measurable amount... a lot of racers take out their alts just for that purpose before a race.....

IM DONE WITH THE CAR FOLKS...

Needs about 2K in maintainance, +$1800 damage repair from small accident=3800

car only got appraised for 2500 BEFORE accident... im gonna take the 1800 from insurance, sell the car, and BAM, im above my appraisal amount

thank you everyone for helping me. Good knowledge for the future

ok... i've officially given up on my electrical situation IN THE NEW CAR

consists of 250A Alt, 2x Deka G31's, big 3 done... 3000W MX3000.1

for some reason!!!... still droppin into the lowwwww 12's.....

stock alt with these batts should support this amp, especially @only 1/2 gain.

i have................
kid that tested my car is also into racing... he said the alt pulling that much power at idle is good for about 5mpg...add all the weight, take off another 3-4mpg= about 8

Alt was re-built from the only place in my area that does re-builds... Morton Grove Auto Electric... he's done plenty of Car audio alts... I told him I had a system, he said "ohh ok, well then we'll do this and that so you get higher power at idle, cause I know you guys like that, and we'll put a bigger stater on there.....regardless, the results showed the ALT works how it should.

I have an 18Gal tank.. I get 280/tank
great place to go ever see his monster alternators in action? I had one of his on my van 10 years ago in place of the AC holy crap it was great. I had a bunch of current hog amps and it fed them with no problem. Great service from him too. I like that he does not lie about output like dbelectrical does.

A 200A alt is only going to help so much. You're going to have to have a hell of a alt setup to not get drops, so I wouldn't worry so much. At full tilt on a burp I would drop into the 11's, but on music at a decent volume I could stay at 14.
