but the other reason why i don't wanna spend any more money is I hav elike 2K in maintainance to do on the car so Im prolly going to sell it soon... I just want to figure it out after already spending so much time and money on it

and sellin the car will mean sellin the system so I can afford an equal value car...unfortunately

not sure on specs...its the Deka D31...thing is a hog...lots of people on here swear by it....Alt doesnt even have a -terminal on it :-(
I might be selling the car soon so I don't want to spend anymore money on it with electrical upgrades... Its just frusterating because I KNOWW there are people on here running less batt. power and getting better results... bolded part in you're post is exactly what I mean... I've got a G31 Deka on that and 1000 watts less power

Hard to compare what somebody else's system does for electrical requirements as you have no idea what their impedance rises to, maybe your box is keeping impedance pretty flat, maybe the other person is getting crazy rise so their amp isn't really pulling that much current...just a thought

Keeping 12.2v with 3kw, I don't think you are doing too bad.

is the drop with the motor at idle? if it is, how many amps dose your alt deliver at idle.

too lazy to read thread, but i read OP.

I was running a 200amp alt + 3 kinetiks on 4kw and was dropping bad still too.

I upped my next system to 7kw with 5 kinetiks but this time added SIX runs of 0/1

It became difficult to TRY to drop below 14

So the lesson: more 0/1! MOARRRR

it happens at idle, 2krpm 4krpm.... the ALT tested at 23% pull at idle, and 13%@4Krpm... so its DEF> stronger at idle

That's weird, I do some dropping with 3K but my lights barely dim at all.

For a song, I personally wouldn't worry if it doesn't drop below 12.2...do you listen to it full tilt for long periods of time?

I had 200a alt (which did 135a at idle), yellowtop, two powermaster d3100's, one 1/0 run of each pos and neg. I could hit high 12's for voltage running it full tilt on bass heavy music at idle.

I still don't think you can directly compare amps/electrical from two different systems and expect the same results

can't add another dekka... dont have room, and im already down to 14-15MPG

you car got other problems. i get around 18mpg and up.

what brand alt?

talk to mlstrass about your car. i'm sure he can help you.

i have................

kid that tested my car is also into racing... he said the alt pulling that much power at idle is good for about 5mpg...add all the weight, take off another 3-4mpg= about 8

Alt was re-built from the only place in my area that does re-builds... Morton Grove Auto Electric... he's done plenty of Car audio alts... I told him I had a system, he said "ohh ok, well then we'll do this and that so you get higher power at idle, cause I know you guys like that, and we'll put a bigger stater on there.....regardless, the results showed the ALT works how it should.

I have an 18Gal tank.. I get 280/tank

you do alot of city driving? i have a 4.6 V8 and about an extra 700lbs in the back and still get 18+

there is the chance your racing friend is pulling estimated numbers out of his ***. i don't trust street racers, but that's because i think they're sub-human, although i may be incorrect.

i really think another run of 1/0 will help you. it did wonders for me as well as others around here. like stated before there's a chance you're getting some ridiculous imp rise. how well is the box built and how close to manuf. specs?
