Opti2000D ratings don't add up

I was looking through my owners manual for the Opti 2000D amp I have, and I noticed something odd. Here are the specs:

1 x 700 @ 4 ohms

1 x 1100 @ 2 ohms

1 x 1600 @ 1.3 ohms

1 x 2000 @ ½ ohm (MAX)

Assuming (MAX) means peak wattage, then 2000 x .707 = 1414 RMS watts. This does not make sense, because it is rated at 1600w @ 1.3ohms.

2000 is the maximum ammount of rms wattage you will receive out of the amp... which is delivered at 1/2 of an ohm.

seemed pretty intuitive to me.

So a 2000 watt amp has to be played below 1 ohm and @ 14v to get 2kw out of it?

and yet a sundown 1500d ( 1500 watt amp ) will do 2500 watts @ 12.8 @ 1 ohm?

sounds like a real quailty amp to me /sarcasm

no its not the max rms, there is no such thing as max rms, there is only rms and max power, its talking about max power a .5 ohm
I didn't say max power in terms of the max power rating. I said its the maximum amount of rms power the amp is capable of putting out, with a specified ohm load.

Its rated to do its 2kw @ .5

There's just a discrepancy in the manual.

I also tested this amp back to back w/ a saz1500d... If i had made a vid i would post the results, but i didn't so i won't.

if you repeated the test i guarantee you'd be surprised.....But i'm sure you wouldn't say it, judging by the huge *** sundown logo in your ava.

Did you use a clamp meter to measure power?
