i't been a while since i've had anything in my truck, i used to go to car showz all the time, but have not kept up wit car audio in a couple years now i plan on having the begining of my subwoofer set-up going by the end of Jan. i own a 94 ford explorer 4 door and want to put everything behind the back seats. i listen to rock (love metalica) i also listin to some country + some rap. i only ask for decent S.Q. but want it to get LOUD. i want to get a sytem started by the end on the month, but want it to be sumtin that can be easily added on to. after talkin to the three nearest audio stores clostest to me, here is wut sounds best to me 4 - 12" "crossfire power series" + 2 - VR1000D amps, or 1- VR2000D amp. i eventually want 6 subs total, so which way would be easiest for me to add onto?, also, i am only using this idea is a reference of comparison, becuz thats they best that i could come up with.......i would like to hear some oppinions on this setup, and some ideas for others ......the set up mentioned above is going to run around $1,500 + wiring + electrical up grading so i need to get somthing started with around 1,500 max, then i can add onto after i get my income tax

why do you just get 2 RE XXX 15s? and a Orion 2500d, that'd be around 1500 maybe cheaper. 6 subs would be a bit crazy, and i've heard a few crossfire subs and they had no SQ to me, the XXXs will get LOUUUUUUD and sound good while doing it

man, i can't beleive that i'm hearing so many people recomend 15" subs these days......i've heard crossfire's, fosgates, and JL's in 12" + 15", and there is a huge difference to me in SQ .....15" would be a good choice for sum1 who is wanting only SPL, but i still want to maintain a decent level of SQ......some 12's i have heard can produce accurate bass like 10's......but 15's just have a totally diferent sound, and concidering that i listen to rock, 15's would be tough for me to choose.......and as far as 6 subs.....i want that by mid year.....for now 4 would be good for me....................thanx for the input though......any other suggestions?

i presume that they may be possible.......but very unlikely...15's are bigger cones, made for moving maximum amount of air, but such large cones are harder make respond accurately to fast, punchy bass, with out more power that is

no i haven't heard an XXX but it is a general rule that 15's aren't normaly recomended for SQ
you go against the basic principles of box design and resonance (or whatever the word i am looking for it)

and you also just started a HUGE thread //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

i'm going to go cry in the corner... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

haha, actually...it doesn't mean anything about the size of the woof depending on the sq or even spl...hell there are 8's that compete in spl and 15's (i guarantee) that compete in sq or probably sql (meca)

:edit: i just read what you said above me...totally inocorrect.

i need an sq guy on here to help me out

i'm an spl guy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif :) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

very unlikely? doubtful, but im done with this thread, its like talking to a brick wall, get your 6 12s have it sound like shit and regret not gettin the 15s idc im out

I vote

Three XXX 15's

And that guy's Autotek 300.1 or that 400.1 American Bass amp that's for sell on the forums

That would be, wow.

And SQ would suprise you, actually, according to everything I've read.

there was a write up somewhere i think dan wiggins did it...said that the size of the cone does NOT affect the sound quality of a subwoofer. bigger cone = less sq is a myth.

i cant find it.... maybe someone can look for it
