I was looking to buy a stereo. What are your opinions between audiobahn and boston acoustics for brands? Also for subs with dvc that rate say 350 rms each voice coil, if i hooked up an amp that was 600 w rms would that blow them or would it be ok? I'm sure they are dumb questions but im new to all this.

Welcome to the site. i hate audiobahn i know its my user name but a while back i used to be just like you everyone start's off with sh*t but i was stupid and didn't listen to the guys here well back then really didn't have a choice my job sucked like no hrs no pay so i was kinda stuck with what i had . so let everyone guide you to the right way for your first system dont just drop cash into a system and have no idea what your getting like i see most kids do which is sad. but brands to stay away from audiobahn , sony , dual , jensen , kenwood . Brands that are really nice to deal with focal , pioneer , Fi , Re , Massive , Sundown , Kicker. what is your budget for your system man ?

i don't want to spend over 300. I was thinking of something with one sub and amp that later on i can but another set of to add to it. I saw you listed kenwood as one to stay away from. I already have kenwood HU, any suggestions for a new HU?

And here are some tips when your here on the forums

Tips

1.) ask if they have refs here.

2.) make sure they have a picture of the item and that they have there name here on a piece of paper , dry erase board or something next to the item.

3.) NEVER say pyle or sony are good cause there not they are SH*T.

4.) don't get your stuff installed at best buy or circuit city . get it installed at your local shop if you have no friends to help you

5.) always ask questions here just make sure that they make sense and that we can help you:D.

boston makes some good stuff there components are good along with there amps but there subs i haven't heard much about so i couldn't tell ya much about and which kenwood hu do you have?

tip 6 -- always search before asking a question... chances are you're not the first person to have that question and it has been answered on here several times before

best way to learn is just search and read... you'll get the hang of it in no time

my head unit im replacing for sure, the back lighting went out. I'm thinking of going with Excelon KDC-X491 It's not to exspensive and has a 4v preamp output. I wish there was a search option to go through all the old strings lol

?

there is a search option...it's at the top of every page //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

also in your search for a system...do a ton of research before you buy anything! Seriously just read everything you can find on this site about different companies, but take everything with a grain of salt. A lot of people on here are bias towards certain brands.

Last thing...another good brand to look at...Alpine

welcome to the site... my 2 cents is to just read read READ as much information that you can from the stickys at the top of every section. Learn HOW everything works BEFORE you buy ANYTHING.

That is a very important thing to understand.

Some good budget companies....Kicker/Alpine...
