i used to have one of these as a 12 seemed neat traded it off for some 8 inch w7 paper weights worthless little things imo

but anyways u traded 4 12 inch type rs for 2 15 inch JBL mkii idk if i got the better end or not didnt care just wanted a pair of these 15s but 5000 max 800 rms wtf give what am i supposed to take out of that what can i really put into these things

can they do any damage get loud hit hard are they worth squat and whst kind of box can i get the best power ouit of them in if so

also as a weird note i get a odd smell from these jnoty quite buring but at the same time almost a very odd burning smell now i noticed this with my 12 i had too and there never appeared to b a real issue with it and smelled the exact same im pretty sure do these subs just have a weird odor? i mean i have seen and ran subs that can stink a little when putting power into them but at the same time they take it everyday all daty without fail they just smell...why?? is this normal??

Honestly, you can get new JBL subs that are pretty similar for around ~$100 each. I heard a set a couple weeks ago on a demo wall.....not impressed. You would probably be money ahead going with 1 good quality 12 or some SA8's. I'd ask splaudio if he knows where to get some also check for speaker recone kits on google.

JBL mkII GTi? Those are JBL's flagship subs and are far from junk. I'd say you got the better end of the deal honestly. You can give them quite a bit of power... I'd try a 2k amp on the pair to start and make a nice ported box for them. Keep in mind that they are dual 6 ohm coils on those which means you can run at 6 ohms or 1.5 ohms with a pair.

Ya I think I have them wired at 1.5 but I can't find a wiring diagram for them I have an ap3000d I got it bridged at 1.5 ohms I think! Bu5 idk I say that becuz the amp seems a little unstable when I turn it up

JBL GTi Mk II are among the top tier of highly regarded SQ subs out there and are known to handle a fair bit of power. 1500W will make just about anything smelly if you push it. I'd say that's the right ammount of power, but back off a bit when they get stinky. I've seen some good review/build log threads for these over at DIYMA (I think?). You got the way better end of the deal over 4 type Argh's
