Opinions Please: Replacement Stereo

Hi all. I'm new to the car stereo scene and I'm looking for opinions on the setup I was pitched at my local car stereo dealer. I've done some research on my own, but it's good to get some feedback from experienced people like you.

My goal with this setup is to gain excellent ipod integration and good/excellent sound quality. I'm not interested in blowing the trunk lid off my car, lol.

Equipment list:

Alpine IDX-X100 Head Unit (no CD player)

Tempo 6 Morel Component System (2 front speakers and tweeters)

Morel 6x9 (rear speakers)

12" Alpine Type S Dual 4 Ohn 300 Watt RMS subwoofer w/slant box

Alpine V-Power 500 Watt Mono Amp (MRP-500)

Alpine V-Power 300 Watt Amp (MRP-F300)

Including install time/hardware (harness, kits, wires etc.), the total cost is $1800.

I'm liking quite a bit of it.

I don't know much about the HU in particular - I would tend to find something with a cd player myself, but if you use an ipod/mp3 player, then you should be fine there.

The morel comps and rear fill will be quite excellent. No problems there, you won't be disappointed.

The alpine amps are fairly sturdy - there's probably better to get, but I would tend to say they'll serve you well.

The one thing I don't like so much is the alpine type S - I don't hear much about those. And I'm hoping it's not a prefabricated box. I would probably say to get something like an IDQ subwoofer, and put it in a custom box.
