I'm strongly considering purchasing this for my apartment next year...I really just started looking for projectors. I know this one is really popular, but is it really all it's cracked up to be? We'll be using it mainly for video games/TV..maybe a movie now and then..and the room it's going in has a considerable amount of light in it during the daytime as it is now.

I'm torn between one of these and one of the 120hz Bravias..but the biggest thing turning me away from an actual TV is the fact that we have pretty big parties and I wouldn't want my $3000 TV getting knocked off the wall/stand //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

SO--would you guys strongly recommend anything over this in this price range? I don't need 1080p, whatever.

TRhe only thing I don't really like about the way that you're looking at this is since a projector gives you such a large display, you'd want the best picture you can get. I'd say if you were getting a projector, make sure its 1080p, and for a TV, maybe not so much.

Also, if there's a lot of light coming in, you're going to get pissed off pretty quick.

from what i've read there isn't a huge difference between 720/1080p on a projector like this, unless it's on a really nice screen, perfectly lit room, etc etc..

the light can be taken care of..this just seems like a more practical solution for a college apartment that has a lot of people in and out

I'd also look into the Optoma HD72. If you want to watch with a lot of lighting on in the room then consider "business presentation" type projector, but not all of them do very well with action scenes.

Check out avsforum for reviews on pretty much every PJ out there. I have an Optoma H31 and love it. It's only 480p, but on a 92" screen it looks amazing...
