Opinions on Some 18's...

If you are looking into buying 2 18's, I assume you have the budget for a single 18. I'm selling my RL-p 18 for MUCH cheaper than what they sell it for and it is BNIB as well. I have played with another RL-p 18 before and it's SQ is amazing and will get loud as well. Takes a bit more power than rated too. If you're interested, shoot me a PM, selling for 300+shipping.

I do not see the sense in buyin 18's just to seal them
I had my RL-p in 5 cubes sealed in my trunk setup. Got low as fawk, sounded awesome...VERY accurate and even had a few people think their 10's were "quicker" or more accurate. I had them sit in my vehicle and listen to the 18 before telling them what it was and when they found out they nearly shit their pants.

Those who think 18's can't be accurate or very incorrect. It depends on the driver, not the size of it. All I have to say is Bass I Love at about 15 seconds in or so = mad lows. And to those who think sealed won't get loud, don't judge unless you have the driver in the proper enclosure (a good driver at that) and then be the judge.

What is wrong with sealed 18's? This forum is abit port-happy
Ya think?

Like donpisto said, An 18 sealed is something else. I listen to a lot of rock, metal. My 18 is easily able to keep up with Iron Maiden, Metallica, etc.. Just make sure you have the midbass/midrange to support it, or else it'll be just as bad as having 4 15's with 10kw of power and stock mids.... stupid IMHO.

Great price on that 18rlp. Can't wait to get my two in, which will be sealed.

Nothing wrong with going sealed, some people like the sound better. Not everybody jumps the ported bandwagon because they want the deebeezzzzz. Two good 18's sealed will be loud, different, and sound good.

I forgot to leave out what cx-7heaven mentioned. I listen to all kinds of music, such as rap, rock, metal, phil collins (of course), and other genres. Gets loud and hits low for the rap songs and for metal like cradle of filth, lamb of god, or anything with a bunch of double bass, it never appeared to be sloppy.

And agreed, this forum, along with many others are port happy. It seems people tend to think ported will get louder and is the way to go. I thought sealed wouldn't sound great and wouldn't have enough output till a friend told me to just do it (also because of my air space restrictions) and I was definitely pleased. A huge bonus is that there is no need for a SSF, and for amps that don't have an SSF you can adjust, just an on and off switch, it is great.

Ive heard an 18" tc9(similar to an RLP) sealed in a charger and it sounded great an had plenty of output. Moved quit a bit of air to(means nothing, but i like it).

Still wanna hear some peoples reason why 18s should be ported..........

I think oxsign was is doing high 140's on music with 1.2k on his in around 5 or 6 cubes ported. I did a 140.1 @ 36 Hz with mine off one coil (long story short, the driver had a dead coil and I didnt find out till a month or so later).

Lets not get carried away. One 18 sealed is not like four 15's ported
You're right, but it is still ridiculously loud, I had to get some high power diamond comps, and run ~400 watts a side to em to keep up with the sub( at least to my ears, which aint that bad.....yet)

Sorry to go off topic, back to your dilemma.... I have heard that rlp 18's are very nice, was between it and the havoc. I decided on the havoc, because I am not a fan of aluminum cones(personal preference).

I never heard that driver in the charger but I heard in the Marauder in the enclosure I have for my RL-p...too bad the owner likes more sq and isn't much of bass nerd, still sounded great though.

BTW: The one in the charger was pretty much a proto rl-p, just a bit beefed up.
