Opinions on port and sub firing directions ... crew cab

How's it going CA.com I have been poking around for a bit and since it's getting close to time for the new box I figured I would see what everyone's opinion is. So I have a 2004 Supercharged Nissan Frontier crew cab. I am deleting the back seat and plan to build a false floor setup ( the rear seat area is uneven and oddly shaped after the seats are out so this is to basically flatten it out and simplify the oblong shape) but I have not really figured out how I intend to handle box layout. I have 2 D1 zv4 15s with SPL recones, only have a saz3500 for now but will be grabbing up a scv6000 once it's available. I have often heard sub forward port up for extended cabs and that essentially what my truck will be just really extended lol. But I'm open to ideas. So in your opinions or experiences what has worked well for you? I don't compete or really care about numbers I just daily ground pound and sometimes demo for friends lol. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

I had a Dakota 4 door back in 98, I did 4 type r 10's, removed the back seat, made the floor like you were saying but made it part of the box and had the subs firing down and port firing up with the port located at the rear of the box closest to back window, sounded great I thought so did everyone else but it's all opinion, the bottom was made kinda like a hlcd hard to explain but subs fired down to the false floor, the false floor was at an angle, gap from woofer to floor at the back wall of cab was aprox. 6 in. and gap from sub to floor in the front of the box was aprox. 10" .... wish I had a drawing, would be easier to understand.... that was my old late 90's set up.

I see what your saying .. that could work I'd just have to make sure it's well off the floor for excursion purposes .. but that may screw up my amp rack plans .. my crew cab is particularly small .. and getting 8.5 cubes after displacement is already gonna be challenging lol

I made an amp rack tray for the top of the box and the port was behind that so you didn't see it..... yes your cab is small... I had 4 10's.... no biggie, but 2 15's in a frontier is tricky in itself.. the box may block your view out your back window.

Well my amp rack was going to cover the rear window .. I drive a kenworth T-660 Studio Sleeper with a 53 foot van behind it on a daily basis so windshield mounted rear view mirror is a thing of the past for me lol as long as I can see my side mirrors I'm good .. but yea I wanted to mount my amps on a board parallel to the rear window (so thankful I have a 1 pc rear window lol) and bring the box up a little past the window line .. just need enough room for the scv6k and either 2 100.4s (if I trade for one) or 1 100.4 and 2 125.2s if I just use what I have (might use my sax50.4 for tweets aswell .. still undecided on that exactly) .. as soon as I get moved into my new house(garage finally! lol) I'm gonna start playing around with some test boxes and see what sounds louder/better .. just need some ideas what to try lol ... but the down fire idea has me very intrigued.

yea I was happy with it , instead of straight down maybe you could tilt the face to fire slightly towards the front like 10 deg. or something....... sounds fun, if I lived near I would lend a hand

Yea I'm excited to really get started on it .. and hopefully get my bumpers sliders lift kit and all that mess soon too .. love this truck but man parts for it are so expensive and difficult to find ... had I got a Toyota I'd be in a much better boat .. but then I wouldn't he able to say my truck is supercharged lol .. for what it's worth here's the beast lol

looks good, at least its a 4 door, for some reason I keeped thinking extra cab lol .... that is why I love my xj, you can find everything for it... but at the same time it is imposable to be unique.

Yea that's one thing I love about mine .. not many not stock ones in my area lol .. it's only got a torsion bar crank the 265 70 17(31.5x11.5 if I remember correctly) terra grapplers and 17x8.5 vision wheels right now besides system .. have a 2" body lift for it just have to find time to get it on (only home 3-4 days a month due to being an OTR truck driver lol ) then plan to get a 3" suspension and some kinda 33s .. something much more aggressive than the terra grapplers that's for sure gonna have a local off road fab shop make my bumpers and sliders so they are exactly what I want .. I wish I had the "off the shelf" bumper selection that you do with your jeep lol .. only like 3 people make a bumper for my truck and the one every one goes for has a 8-12 month wait on top of the 2k price tag :-O

yea bumpers are over priced that's why I am building mine, plus they all stick out too far and ruins you approach angle, for tires, I run the interco ltb, I have had 2 sets so far and love them, everyone I got out with has had a flat but me, tough as nails thick side walls, I drop mine to 8 pounds with no bead locks and there is no sag, a lot of the times I forget to air em up lol, also they have great grip and very aggressive
