I ran one for about two months in my Tahoe just because I had it laying around. It quit - it just stayed in protect mode all the time. The wiring was fine. I put another amp on it and all was well. My opinion is that they're crap.
Their eXcelon lineup is pretty good, I've had a little bit of experience with them
It's once you get into their cheaper shit, like those guys said, that you have issues.
Nah. That's Kenwood. But the original poster was right in that the eXcelon line is good stuff, but the lower end Kenwood stuff does have a tendency to border on the crap line.
I have done alot of work on different models of Pioneer amps, and overall I don't care much for them. Basically from a electronics point of view, they are cheaply designed and built. The circuit boards are bad to crack and break. They are not designed with protection in mind, so if a problem does occur they using do alot of damage to the amp.
Performance wise they are ok, but nothing impressive.
