Opinions on my first system..

I got my first system installed yesterday in my 95 Blazer..

Pioneer DEHP- 6700

1 15" Kicker Solo Baric L7

Kenwood KACX-811D amp

4.5 cubes custom ported box

4 gauge fosgate wires

I have $1,000 in this system, and everything is professionally installed

I first had a problem with the amp overheating, but it was mounted on the back of my rear seats with the box right next to it. It also blew the fuse connected to my batter. I put the seats down so my amp could get more air and it only goes into protection on songs that play constant, low bass..It hasnt blew another fuse yet either. It is rated at 1000watts but benched 900.This system is still pretty dang loud.. The audio shop recommnded me getting a 1000 watt Memphis amp but this system is plenty loud enough for me. I have a stock battery and alternator though, and my headlights/panel lights blink when it hits pretty hard.

They recommended a capacitator. From reading on here it wouldnt do much good, and id be better off getting "the Big 3". The cost of the Big 3 isn't a problem, but I dont know how to wire stuff really. Id have to pay to get it done and was wondering how much it may cost?

I am pretty happy with my system right now! If i get any more bass I am sure it would harm my hearing !

idk y u spent so much on that.... dont get me wrong it probably sounds prty good but if u had baught it off something like ebay and instaled it urself u could have been under or around 8 or 9 hundred

I got to put my system to the test last night.. I went to "The Loop" in the nearest large town.. This is a place where peeps come from as far as 40 miles away to socialize, show out, cause problems, and just have a dam good time.. My system was definitely the loudest from the outside that we heard all night.. One of my friends has 2 Fosgate Stage 2 10" subs in a single cab Chevy 1500 and his sounded a little better on the inside simply because it didnt hurt your ears. I am surprised by my system.. I was recommended to buy a Optima yellow-top battery due to the fact my headlights flash and my voltage meter fluxuates some.. So I guess that will be next!

15" Solo-baric - $191 off ebay

Kenwood X811-D amp - $207 off of ebay

Pioneer DEHP-6700 - $220 from Circuit City + $60 for installing kite and tax

Custom Box - $175

4-gauge Fosgate Wiring and RCA Cables - $60

Installation - $60

Dad made me get it professionally installed so I really had no choice.. Otherwise I could of bought the cd player for like $180 flat.. All prices include shipping.

F the capacitor.

do the big 3 wiring and get a red top. the yellow top is a deep cycle battery not a starter. you wont need a yellow top unless you want to leave it playing music for an hour at a show

The new yellow tops are both starter and deep cycle. I just bought one Friday. I like the red top, but when I saw that the yellow top was both, I went with it.

What's the voice coil configuration on that L7? If you're only showing it 2 Ohms rather than 1 Ohm it's rated to output like 919, IIRC? As it's a CEA 2006-compliant amp I cannot see where you'd not get at least rated output (provided you're actually feeding it with 14.4vdc)

Now I also find it strange that the output increase going from a 2 Ohm load to a 1 Ohm load is less than 100 watts...which would be an inaudible difference...

Maybe that eXcelon was only built for 1 Ohm stability to allow for more wiring options...[/talking to myself]

Definately do the Big 3...and a higher CCA-rated starting battery. If that doesn't cure your ills then an HO alternator will likely be in your future.

Thanks for the comments guys.. Ill be buying an optima yellow top and getting the Big 3 wired before too long!
