Opinions on my amp situation please

Well, I think I've decided on one 12" CAB Ultra for the trunk of my '06 GTO.

Now, to the amps. Right now I have a JBL 7001 A/B amp as my sub amp. It puts out 700 watts at 2 ohms.

For the fronts, I have Infinity components running off an OLD kenwood KAC728s that I bought off CL for like $30.

Now, should I run the system as is, and run the CAB ultra off the JBL at 700 watts? To get a 2 ohm amp load, I need a dual VC 4 ohm speaker, correct?

Or, should I sell the Kenwood, use the JBL to run my front components, and buy a mono D amp to run the CAB Ultra?

Would a 1000 mono D amp be a noticeable upgrade from the JBL? 1200 watt?

How big of an amp do you think I could run on my stock electrical? The GTO has a 140 amp stock alternator. I have 4g wire installed.

if it's a mono amp yeah d4.. if it's mono u won't have stereo for speakers.. leave amp on mids for now and maybe look for new sub amp get d2 sub with like twisted sound 1k or 1.3k amp...

I would just buy the sub and use what you have already. If you don't think its enough then venture out for a bigger amp

Keep the jbl. Those are nice amps. Just make sure its a d4

i'm amp shopping to and cab is hard to pass up just for price but man it weighs 30 pounds., i mean takes up space., and u need 0 ga wire.. some of these guys have 20-60 cf sub boxes in suvs.. if u want 1 sub and u have limited space + cabs (and most cheap amps don't do well screwed to the box) so with your limit space i'd stick to amp u have or look at other fair amps., i'm basically looking at ppi p1000 $157 amazon(1100rms @1ohm, 930 @2Ohm) or the skar 800.1 ($139 does 900rms @ 1ohm) those are small amps but i recomended the ts if u wanta spend a little more to have something less mainstream and pretty much everyone will say ts is better just depends if u wanta spend the $.. so either keep what u got or go a little bigger (which they say not to do kinda go big or stay home) i think if your box is right that sub will be fine on your amp after sub breaks in 2-3 weeks..

Yeah, I probably will just start with the JBL. I'm just afraid that I'll get "upgrade-itis" and want more power and then I'll be stuck with a D4 sub when I should have a D2 sub.

If I were to upgrade, would either of these be a good choice? (I have a stock 140amp alternator and am open to doing the big 3)
