Opinions on bass knobs and do you use one?

Also i seem to be having this issue of overpowering bass on songs that shouldnt be. Like say im listening to a rap song with a good bass line. Well that bass line is far stronger than it should be.

Everything is flat on hu and whatnot. I know im doing that part correctly. I have a clipping indicator on my amp so i just play the most bass heavy song i have. Turn the gain up till i hit clipping. Then back off a lil and call it good. Which gives me FANTASTIC bass on EDM but way overpowering bass on normal songs with a good bass line.

Is this just something i have to deal with or like the tradeoff? Is it possible to have balanced bass on most songs and heavy bass on good edm songs?

And bass knob no I don't use one but I've been thinking about trying one. That might be an easier fix for u

i use one instead of subwoofer level on hu.saves wear imo.of course if all music had the same dynamic range,then i wouldnt need one.yeah sure i could adjust bass on the hu but sometimes i like the bass knob adjustments sound over the hu's bass adjustment.but thats me

i use my bass knob. there are some really heavy bass songs and i just turn them down with knob.

I use them. Clip light is nice and id rather back down the gain knob than go through my headunit settings.

The one reason I don't want a Taramps 8k is the lack of gain knob.

if you do use one.better know how to listen for clipping in case your indicator breaks.its easy to clip after your ears adjust to the bass and you dont think its loud as it was.that right there is probably the main reason a lot of people dont use one

I use one. And I love it. That is one awesome improvement over OS systems... Had to go into HU and try to change while driving, or pull over and change settings on your 1/3 octave EQ's, usually mounted in the trunk, just to change it back in a song or two .....

This way I can easily go from Bass Patrol to ZZ Top to Big SMO to ELO to Pantera ....... you get the point .... without even taking my eyes off the road ...

oh ive got a bass knob on my amp already. I was just curious if there was a way to fix the heavy bass/normal bass problem but its good to know that i can get any amp and throw a LC-1 on it and call it good.

Ive definitely strayed away from amps because they didnt have a bass knob

I have a question. My AB 4480 doesn't have a Clipping light on the Bass knob... Can I buy one that does and replace it? As long as the connection is the same?
