As it is now, I have 2 stroker 15's and 4 kicker dx700 amps. I need 4 1 ohm loads for the amps to put out their peak power...and I'm certain I can get louder subs than the stroker for my purposes.

I have an 8 cub box..which fires straight into the cabin of my 99 monte carlo. The goal is to get the seats back on at some point...its gonna be tricky but its dooable.

I am considering running a single 18" sub, but it would have to be a quad coil... Considering the DD 9917 or a XXX 18. I get a nice discount on RE, but I doubt that is going to fart out the best SPL..and I also doubt it will be able to take 4k on a daily setup. A single MT 18 is also an option.

Also, I am thinking about tossing 2 different 15's in there, they would have to present me with 4 1ohm loads. Quad 2, dual 1...really don't care. I'm looking at the audiobahn immortals...but they get such varied numbers I'm a bit wary. Still...for the price they seem to be a bargain. I have used the search function and have read the horrible flaming you guys give abahn..lol. As it is, they are decent subs for the guy who wants to street beat around at 1 AM, which is why they get such a bad rep. The subs also tend to be overrated as far as power handling.

Anyway, I'm worried that if I buy the immortals I will wish I would have spent more money and gone with a better sub. XXX 15's, SX 15's, 9515's...

Another issue is that I'm not so confident 8 cubes net is good enough for a pair of 15's...especially something along the lines of a 9515.

Any suggestions?

Please don't give me the n00b treatment...I'm a mod over at realcaraudio...but typically the guys there don't have much experience with the subs mentioned...and it never hurts to get some opinions...nor does it hurt to start a good discussion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

HIGH NOOB! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif j/k..

I'll try to tackle this.. but I dont know much about this SPL thing I keep seeing..

you sure can //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

aw.. then you gotta haul deadbeat friends around.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

throw the 9917 away, it won't stand up to 4kw daily, and sounds like rancid ass in play.. the XXX will do the best daily type, but is down from the 9917 in fart ability..

the MT.. sounds better daily then the 9917, and is louder.. so there's my choice.. will also handle 4kw.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

honestly nothing wrong with the immortals quality wise.. they are built by a rather reputable builder.. thats the only audiobahn woofer I'd touch.. they aren't a gifted sounding woofer though.. see above post in reference to the 9917

if you can't afford those, ability and knowledge can make the audiobahn fart well..

if you can.. well.. install and ability will make them louder too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

it'll work well with them.. since you'll be aiming for a high tune, small volume will work best with your power..

I've tested / installed / killed all of the woofers you've mentioned.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

My rankings...

2. DD 9917 (its a 9515 with a kevlar cone, resonance uses the exact same motor / coil / suspension on it)

3. DD 9515

4. XXX

DAILY ABILITY

1. XXX

2. MT

3. (tie) 9917 / 9915 they both sound like ass at full volume

POWER HANDLING

1. MT

2. (tie) 9917 / 9515

3. XXX

Very informative...

I can see this turning into a wall...although my car isn't the most wall worthy with those long doors. It does start off pretty solid though..which is a plus.

Perhaps 4 d3000m's on a single mt18...that would be interesting //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What is wrong with atomic? I've seen those take insane amounts of power but then again I've never actually heard them play music. I bet a SoloX would work but kind of pricey.

Giving subs more power really wakes them up. The MRP-500 is pretty low power. You would really notice more authority in your bass.

I’m sure they will be a good budget setup. I think they will lack some midbass but door treatment is super important so definitely be sure to do...
