Opinions on Alpine's 2006 line

I'm in the process of putting together another system, and was wondering about Alpine's 2006 line of amplifiers, in particular, the PDX and MRP lines. They've been out a while, so I know somebody has had some experience with them. I like the clean looks of them, and how their not flashy. I'm just wondering about quality. I have an old mrd-m501 amp and that thing is solid as a rock, its underrated, and completely digital //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif . Have Alpine's amp went down in quality like their HUs have? I know they would be fine for subs, but would running them be as good as running, say a DLS or Orion on a set of nice components? I know the price is a little high, and there comparable amps out there for less, but with Alpine, you know what your getting. Any opinions on these? I'm looking at the PDX-2.150 and the matching PDX-1.1000. Any feedback is appreciated!

Class D isn't necessarily bad (as in high distortion), as long as it is designed correctly. The Zapco C2K 9.0 would be an example. Alpine amps are usually great for the money (not retail prices of course), but I've heard that these new amps run very hot. For their eBay prices, you get a LOT of power for your money in a tiny footprint. I'm guessing they would be at least as nice as Orion, but I'm not sure about DLS.

I know for sure its a class d amp so the SQ *****s will tell you thats a no-no.
And I would laugh at those people.

The PDX series looks nice, from a cosmetics standpoint. I would really love to get a chance to play with them some. As was said....Alpine has always had pretty good amplifiers. Not "the best", but far from the worst. Pretty good for the money you pay though.

You sure about that....being completely digital I mean? Do digital watches tell time better than analog ones?

Why would they be fine for subs and not for comps?? Why would an Orion be better?

I'd take that 125x4 PDX any ole day of the week...class D or not...if the price was right.

Hold up guys. I actually heard the PDX line in a friends car and I must say that they sound pretty bad ***. He has the PDX-4.150 pushing 2 sets of 6.5 type r seperates and the PDX 1000.1 pushing two 12" type r subs and the sound quality as well as the SPL is amazing. That is the reason I picked up the PDX-4.150 for myself. Very sexy amp!!!
