Opinions on a new sub

Not for $350, but not for much more than that either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
To the OP - define "sounds nasty"...no seperation between notes? No lower-end extension?
a pair for a little more than $350? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

x2 on "nasty". //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

If you're limited to a single 15", a $350 budget and want SQ...there are a few subs out there I'd consider. The IDMAX, Brahma MKII, and old XXX all come to mind.

There's a guy in the classifieds selling his MKII Brahma for $250, not sure if it's sold yet.

In the first post, volume per sub was stated as 3.5 cu ft. Kicker's suggested MAXIMUM volume for the 12" L7 in a ported enclosure is 3.25 per sub. I would imagine the oversized box will cause a larger peak around the tuned frequency of the box. I really don't know squat about kicker subs, but it's just a thought.

Back on topic, have you ever listened to an eD 16Ov2? They're loud as heck, and sound great doing it.

try gettin ahold of polecat...maybe he can have some input on making the l7's a little cleaner..

but if you want new subs...like above, xxx, brahma, mag d2, avalanche.....and tons of others

cough....d2...cough

Hmm, after reading this, I'm guessing you don't have a good set of component speakers up front being driven by a nice amp?????

ok were talking about subs, the title of the thread is opinions on a new sub ............... how did the components come into this and what the hell does the components have to do with the sq of the sub?????

x2 he was talking abut high sub notes, not anything concerning his components

if he is missing midbass, then we would indeed talk about components, the subs would, and should, only play below 100hz, IMHO. Then that's where a good set of midbass speakers come in handy.

Thank you, Tracy...

Too often people here talk like the sub is operating in a "sonic vacuum", if you will.
