To the OP - define "sounds nasty"...no seperation between notes? No lower-end extension?

If you're limited to a single 15", a $350 budget and want SQ...there are a few subs out there I'd consider. The IDMAX, Brahma MKII, and old XXX all come to mind.

There's a guy in the classifieds selling his MKII Brahma for $250, not sure if it's sold yet.

you could always try a bigger amp? i heard that the more power you give to L7's the better they sound and theres no way that 1200 amp is giving them what they want

who designed that box? whats the dimensions? maybe I'm just tripping....but that doesnt look anywhere close to 7 cubes net.

In the first post, volume per sub was stated as 3.5 cu ft. Kicker's suggested MAXIMUM volume for the 12" L7 in a ported enclosure is 3.25 per sub. I would imagine the oversized box will cause a larger peak around the tuned frequency of the box. I really don't know squat about kicker subs, but it's just a thought.

Back on topic, have you ever listened to an eD 16Ov2? They're loud as heck, and sound great doing it.

x2 he was talking abut high sub notes, not anything concerning his components

if he is missing midbass, then we would indeed talk about components, the subs would, and should, only play below 100hz, IMHO. Then that's where a good set of midbass speakers come in handy.
