Opinions For PhoenixGold OctainR Series Amps

Guys what are yor opinions regarding the Octain R Series of amps. They seem to be a bit cheaper priced. Im looking at the R5.0:1 model to power my sub. Any feedback on these amps? Any better alternatives for the same price?? THANKS

not bad entry level amps. if you get a good deal on it, then go for it.

i have had the R8.0 for a year and no problems, it is nothing fancy but it gets the job done

Yes its an entry level amp, but its very reliable, and it gets the job done. One thing to remember though is that the particular amp you are looking at puts out150rms@4 ohms, and 300rms@2 ohms. Those amps are rated at peak power.

How about the HiFonics line of Amps. Could u guys recomend me an amp to power a 12 Inch Type R.(havent purchased it yet)Looking not to spend lots $$$$. THANKS

Hifonics amps dont really impress me much, but this amp would work for u, and its much better than the octane line.

The Octane R's are great amps. And, excuse me if I am wrong, but the output stays the same, no matter the ohm load. That's the way my old Octane R 15.0.1 was. It was benched at 1850 watts btw (at 4 ohm through 2 ohm)...

The xenons power stays the same from different ohm loads, the octane does not. The 15.0.1 is rated at 500watts@4 ohms. In no way will this amp put out 1kw @4 ohms. It will at 2 ohms though.

I could've swore it said that in the Octane manual... Oh well, the amp's dead now anyway.

Guys the PG XENON 600.1 is that 1 X 600rms or peak watts. Also is it the same wattage at all ohms 1 to 4. THANKS
