Subs - 2 MTX Thunder 4000 12"

HU - Kenwood KDC-135

What i am getting

Amps - Hifonics TXi 4008 for Co-Ax's, Hifonics TXI 7508 for subs

Co-Ax's - Hifonics ZXi 63 - 6.5"

Crossover - MTX HTX-V2

Amp Kit- Diesel Audio 1800W 4Ga Kit

Distribution Block - Stinger Fused 4Ga input, 2 8Ga output

Speaker Wire - Stinger HPM 14Ga Twisted

Amp power - Stinger HPM 8Ga

Im also getting a Dynamat speaker kit, some extra fuses, and some grills for the subs. I am using the MTX's cuz i got them for free and im getting the good amp for them so i can upgrade later and not worry about upgrading the amps. I will custom make a box depending on which vehicle i feel liek putting all this in. Lemme get some opinions

Edit: I see now that the 4008 is a two channel, sorry I thought it was a 4 channel.

Why a 4 channel just for co-axial's? Are you running 2 pairs or some other reason? I suggest just doing the front stage speakers and get better speakers if you can, like an entry level set of components with a decent passive crossover.

That sub amp will need a 4 gauge input. I personally would prefer to use a class D amp for Subs. Much more efficient use of power. That thing will upto draw 120 amps (max), plus the other amp is more than most standard car electrical systems can handle. With a class D amp you could get more power with less current draw.

What it the Head Unit?

Have you checked http://www.knukonceptz.com/ for wire and distro stuff?

Otherwise, it sounds like your on the right track to a decent system. Read the stickied threads on how to deaden your doors and wire the Big3. Ask lots of questions and try to do the best install job you can, it will make a big difference in how it sounds and how long it lasts.

Also why an external crossover? Both of those amps have built in crossovers that should work fine for the co-axis and subs without an external crossover. Save the money and spend that part of the budget on better front stage component speakers.

You would set the crossover on the amp for the front co-axial speakers to High Pass at around 80 Hz and the sub amp crossover to Low Pass at around the same frequency = 80 Hz. That will stop bass below 80 hz from getting to the front speakers and block all frequecies above 80 hz from getting to the sub.

Free is even better than $60.
Defiantly - I wanted the external crossover just to have a little better than the one on the amps. Really i picked that amp cuz 1) its hifonics and it matched the co-ax one 2) i can actually use it for the subs 3) im on a budget and liked the price.

I already planned on the big three and i havnt seen that wire and stuff yet so ill chack that out. This is really a budget system cuz i have no job. I picked the HU up for $44 shipped brand new sealed so i figured it would get the job done till i can get something better like an alpine. I wasd planning on getting a good battery to go with big 3 and maybe a second alternator cuz that would be cheaper than a HO.

Those hifonics door speakers are about the same price as the infinitys i was going to get but i wanted these because they matched the Amps, I like stuff to match lol.

I know Hifonics makes good budget amps, but they aren't well known for their speakers. I can apprecieate wanting all the gear to match, but the reality is when your looking for lower end budget gear you'll get more bang for your buck by going with what works and not sticking to brands.

And I disagree that MTX external active crossover will be better. The built in crossovers in those amps will work fine, I think your wasting money on that external active crossover. I suggest you skip it and instead use the money to upgrade to a set of entry level 6.5" components speakers with a passive crossover from PG or CDT (or similar). They will sound much better for the money your going to spend on the external active crossover and Hifonics co-axials.

Get components!!!!!!!!!

Why are you looking ata co-ax at all?

You get a better woofer and better tweeter almost across the board. Yes external crossovers are superior to coax crossovers 99 percent of the time, your still gonna use your amps High pass crossover to keep the 100-80 Hz bass and below away from your components.

SPend the $$ from your external crossover and your coax and get a $100-200 set of componets and get some sound deadning for your doors if you have any extra $

Just my opinion.. .02 cents

Can u suggest a good set of Co-ax's, i was looking at Phoenix Gold or Infinity or MB Quart.
No. I can't. I have repeatedly suggested you get componet speakers instead. For the exact same amount of money you were going to spend on that external active crossover and co-axials, you should instead spend it on component speakers with a passive crossover. They will sound much better for the same dollars you were going to spend.

You asked for opinions, that is mine.

skateboardkid listed several that would much better than any of the co-axials your looking at.

In 30 seconds of searching I found these. If you were going to spend $60 on co-axials and another $30 on a useless external active crossover, you can get these for $76 instead. You will get much lounder, sound much better and save $14.
