Opinion about Hollywood subs.

I'm curious a little, since I started reading these forums, I've seen alot about brahma, elementals and the re's but I can't recall seeing anything about anyone using Hollywood Excursion subs. There are alot of people using them here in AR and doing high spl numbers. Razorback Car Audio here in Little Rock has a vehicle doing 159.9 using four of the Excursion 1080d-2's 10" subs. I guess my question is really how do other members of this forum feel about Hollywood subs?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif :)

I have no objections about any of the other speakers that you mentioned but Hollywood and Audiobahns are not pawn shop subs, and if there are pawn shops there with them then what series are they because everybody has an entry level as well as a refurb.

Originally posted by EastSide Hollywoods are very good subs because you can put a small channel watt amp on any size subs with no worrys. I've never had any bad Hollywood subs.
exactly that! put money on it - take any sub u want - ED, sHoCkEr, Stroker, DD and give these subs 100RMS. now give an eXcursion this amont of wattage and it will outpound all those subs mentioned - eXcursions bump off ver little wattage, and for he money its a great budget SPL sub.

with regard to the SPL score of 160 with 4 10s - its not a bad score, but some people can do that with 1 sub.......can the eXcursions - I havent seen it yet

in summary - a GREATbdget SPL sub that will bump off very little wattage and wll make u smile when u recallthe performance and what u paid!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

They are Hollywood Excursions (they also sell their entry level subs in prefab boxes) and the Auto's are the AW Series and Flame Series (They usually keep a set of Natural subs in stock but only a couple pairs of 12's at a time) . . . The guy at the pawnshop says you are able to get them for cheap if you buy them bulk from their distributors, so I guess thats why they sell them. Ive heard a few installs with Hollywoods, they bump a little bit, but they sound as sloppy as the Autos to me. . .

The Excursion comes in the 40,50,80,D,D2,and PRO series, so if this p/s is carrying them then they should be a pretty good value.

Just for FYI: This weekend 9/7/02 at a USAC sponsered show in Cabot, AR , Murphy Chandler metered 173.3 OUTLAW using four Excursion 1280's and two Autotek 200.2's

in the Extreme class and took first place....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D

P.S. It should also be noted that this is a $120.00 sub vs the $300.00+ subs that are always praised on these forums:D ://content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif :D

I hear ya!

Everybody on the audio forums and at retail shops are always quick to praise the big-*** subs like the Brahma and the DD's, but what they don't realize is that these subs are made for serious competition-minded users, not the average joe who just wants a little bump in his trunk. Don't be so quick to rag on companies like Jensen and Kenwood who make less expensive entry level subs. These subs server a purpose: giving the average person with very little knowledge or concern of the wonderful world of car audio a chance to enjoy our hobby without shelling out huge amounts of money for top-dollar equiptment. So, before you go knocking these companies, think about those people who would never get into the hobby if they had to start out with a $300 subwoofer, and remember that not everyone is out to make themselves prematurely deaf //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

You can do a lot better for the money (or just a little more) than jensen or kenwood.

I wouldn't suggest anyone buy the Jensen or Kenwood subs either, they do ****!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif :nono: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif
