Opinion about Hollywood subs.

I've wanted to keep clear from this post.. but since I've worked a good bit with hollywood subs... I might as well...

Hollywoods are cheap woofers.. They do fine with low power, and novice type installs.. If you want any type of power handling, you gotta keep em sealed... the suspension isn't very suited for high power ported use.. We've turned a many inside out with moderate amounts of power, and typical SPL ported boxes...

Our team used to run a good bit of hollywood stuff.. but we quickly found out almost everything else we tried, piss pounded them..

Just off the top of my head... Memphis HPs, IDQ's, W3's, Shiva's/Tempest's, ED K's, SE's, X-ones, 3500's, etc....will murder them in any box.. any install, any amount of power...

and I farted..

Bigbassman, I've never stated that the HSL were suited for the big ported boxes, in fact I've always suggested sealed. Any figure that I stated was always noted as being sealed. We've had no problem running them with high power. As far as making the statement that they were better than xyz brand I did not I simply said that you can pay less and get a sub that performs pretty **** good! Now about them being cheap woofers, well that's your opinion of which you are entitled too

Apparently you do not realize whom Loyd is exactly. Let's make this clear that he is one of the most knowledgeable spl guys in the business. I have learned some from him even and know he knows what he is talking about when it comes to spl. Get a grip that you were proven wrong and move on with it. If it is your opinion and you like HSL's by all means go witht hem, but do not try to take that opinion and make claims against it that can be disproven and then get upset when they are proven incorrect.

First off, who he is is of no concern to me, Second, I never questioned his knowledge or anyone else's about SPL. Third, I too have even learned a thing or two from reading his post so I have no doubt that he is pretty knowledgeable.

As far as being proven wrong, what was I proven wrong about?.... Any statement that I made about any score, I can prove, in fact I even named people and places. So that proven wrong statement is a bunch of b.s .

I said that they WEREN'T meant to be used ONLY with LOW POWER, I said that you can use high power on them as well, I also said that some of the cars here use in excess of 1000wrms on them without falure. i didnt say that anything was a LIE, i was just saying how can u compare them at 100wrms, because that isnt shit to compare at, exspecially when u put shocker in there and they wouldnt hardly move with 400-500watts, i didnt mean to piss you off or anyting i was just asking a question on how u compare them at that wattage, because i know many people would compare shit at 100wrms cuz that wouldnt mean shit, its like running 6 1/2s

This is what was disproven................and as far as Loyd being a deity? I am the one whom had my status as god for a while. I simply respect his knowledge in the field and as I CLEARLY stated in the post before hand. You are entitled to your OPINION. If it is disagreed with then fine and so be it. KurupT, I owe you an apology, I took your statement the wrong way and I'm sorry I responded in that way...

Also note that I never said that the shocker's, dd, re's , or any of the other brands that are popular on this forum, were bad subs. All that I have done is defend HSL as a brand that wasn't "crap", and a brand that I like and one that wins at show's and don't cost an arm and a leg.
