Operation New Door panel *Worklog and Pics*

Vehicle: 1995 Miata soft-top

Work to be done: New door panel with pods for 6.5" mid-range, new handle/armrest assembly, and a leather cover.

Today I started on the door handle's and armrest. Rings for the pods have been done for months so thats out of the way. This was probably the trickiest thing. I'll just let the pics speak...

Stock door panel. All it has is that weak-*** speaker grill, a handle, and a pocket thats worthless...

Carboard templet drawn and the speaker ring/grill in its up-and-coming spot...

Drawn out on MDF...

Both pieces cut out. Note*there are two pieces per side. One is a sort of post/mounting and the other is the beauty piece. You can see the back piece cut to give the handle its shape...

Went to roundover the beauty piece and forgot to set my depth //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif Had to recut another piece...

New top piece rounded over, cleaned out and sanded down pretty good...

Close up of where mounting post meets handle, notce how I tried to let the round-over edge flow into the post? sexay...but I'm just ocd really...
