Only one sub hits

K, last week i installed my system, which included 2 subs and an amp. the subs were the kicker compvr's 4dvc, and the am was an old sony xplod 1000 watt/2 channel. It worked fine until i unhooked it and tried to hide the wires better in my trunk. i hooked it back up and i turned everything on and both subs would just thump without any music being played. I checked all the connections and everything seemed fine, so i went ahead and bought a new amp, its a power acoustics 1400 watt 2 channel amp. i hooked that one up and now only one sub works. i checked to see that the rca's were right and they were. I would switch them and the other sub would play but not the previous one...i need some help on this one

Thanks

Chris

Did you buy the amp new?

It could be a defective channel...

Edit- Also, how did you like the CVRs? I am thinking of getting a pair, but not sure if they will be loud enough, do they get loud?..

yeah, the amp is brand new out of the wrapper today, so i dont think its that...i was reading the specs and it said "2 ohm stereo" could it be the way i have my subs wired inside my box? i think its in a parallel circuit right now

The VR's are awesome....after stepping out of the car my ears were still ringing... i felt like i just got out of some heavy metal concert or something

Are you using both channels, or are you bridging the subs?

Since it is 2ohm stereo, it is probably 4ohm mono, and if you have the DVC 4 ohm subs, then you did not match your subs and amp right. You will have to wire the subs either to 4 ohms in each channel, or 8 ohms bridged.

And just because the amp is new does not mean it can not be defective, get a DMM and check the terminals to make sure they are putting out power.

no, leave it 2, it's ok to run a 2 ohm load in stereo, i think your problem is your rca cables. swap them, see if that makes the other sub pound, if it does then you probably have a short in your rca's.

i already switched the rca's out...but while installing them, my friend did pull the terminal out of the rca connection to my head unit, but was able to put it back in

Maybe he caught an extra wire in there or something - like the sheild. That would short the RCA.
