Only Hit 138 DB..Help?

What is the max height in those cars?

Might be a few different ways to go about it though.

As for your goals, in all honesty you could build a new enclosure alter port area(more) and tuning(higher) and you will get what you are looking for.

ill take some measurements and be in touch with you rabbit i will need a box for 2 12's in my g6 ill measure the ebst i know anything special to know before i take them ?

Just make sure it can fit in the trunk opening.

If you're not sure a great way to check is to build a cardboard box to what ever dims you want to try and fit and see if it will slide in.

I Have a Fi BTL 15, in a ported box (4cu) tuned to 29 hz, and a audiopipe 1800 watt amp, running at 1 ohm. i will get another soon to strap them, but right now i only have one, i got metered and hit 138 at 37 hz. port is on passenger side, seats are folded down. my windshield wipers flex, ears hurt, but its not metering high at all.. any tips for me? i plan on reconing it to a 18 soon as well
was this a done with a sweep tone? If not you need to do one. Even so i still think that should meter higher then a 138... My wifes car has a 15" and less power but meters a 143 and the trunk aint sealed off. I would try to rebuild the box with sub and port forward then seal off trunk

thanks for all the help everybody and i appreciate it alot. keep it coming.. i guess its safe to say reconing to a 18 wont suffice lol. if i tune to 33, double power, get some dynomat, itll help alot and i can go from there

i was gonan do a single 15 in my car ( 06 g6) but after alot of talking with people on here watching youtube vids and doing tons of research 2 ported 12's for the win over a single 15 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif just my 2 cents cause ive asked all the same questions you have basically and i love 15's but will be going with 2 12's based on all the info ive been told and gathered

there are correlations between clipped signals and additional hearing damage. the reason? clipping causes harmonics and other higher frequency tones. harmonics won't add (much) to the overall sound pressure level but certainly add to what you hear - resulting in in high-amplitude, higher frequency tones that are certainly damaging.

our hearing is less sensitive at low frequencies, but pressure itself can be damaging.

my Regal (4-12's sealed in place of rear seat) was loud enough you could feel your ear bones vibrating (yes, your ear has bones that transmit sound through vibrations) and that was a weird sensation some people could not handle. but it never metered more than 145 on music - windows down, after a nearly flat RTA run. it was loud enough that driving was difficult as your eyeballs vibrated enough to make it impossible to read signs and the horizon seemed to "bounce". it was loud enough to vibrate car body panels 20ft away and move rear view mirrors 40ft away. it was clearly audible from over 1000 yds away. it was loud enough to audibly vibrate the lay-in ceiling in the large factory/building i worked at when i parked about 100ft away - i was reprimanded for this several times. (i later realized the reason for how well it transmitted over distance was the orientation resulted in a coherent wavefront leaving the vehicle).

tinnitus is real and not something you want to live with every day for the rest of your life. i have minor tinnitus now.

Well, if you're competing then two 12"s can put you in a different category, so it depends on what you're going for. More cone area can usually be an advantage.

not competing just want what was stated by keep hope alive eyeballs vibrating blurred vision and loud lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

then sacrifice your back seat, and run 3-15's as stated above. gotta pay to play. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif trunks are lossy.

yeah i mean not to the level you are at of course but ive had a single sealed 15 on 1000watts in a cavalier and it blurred your vision and was hard to drive while it was beating hard as it could . so im sure 2 ported 12's on 3x the power cna yield better results than what i had years ago . have seen 2 12's move alot of air port and sub forward in a car

it was a test tone, meter at dash, also pontiac g6, and the gain is at a little under half on the amp. but if i turn it up, it starts sounding distorted. also im not sure what kind of meter it was. i was thinking about tuning to 34, but honestly i want a loud *** daily driver that can be heard real far away.. and i love lows as well so i guess i need to keep it in the lower 30s..and the car was sealed.
Why the hell does it matter how far away someone can hear it? Either way, if those are you goals, don't change anything. Because they have nothing to do with how high you meter.

your right buck. i think numbers equal loudness tho right? Im going to explain what i want. i just want to be heard far away, and a little bit louder then i am now in the car. it sounds amazing, the lows are perfect but i want the mid/ high bass a little louder. i want to feel it in my chest so it almost makes you loose your breath. So if i can do that ill be happy. so a little louder, and make it hurt your chest. lol
Again... trying to be heard far away, I don't get it. Maybe you just want noise violation tickets? And numbers do not equate to loudness. As KHA has described, his set-up was very very loud, and only metered a 145. Loudness to the ear, and high numbers on the meter, are 2 very different things.
