only 1 sub works

I've got 2 12" kicker CVR's and a kicker 08zx750.1 and originally about 2 weeks ago I rewired my subs for 2 ohms.... (they are dual 2 ohm voice coils). I checked with a multimeter when I did it and it was correct. Now when I go to put them in, only 1 sub works, and I checked and it is reading 4 ohms..... Does this sound like some wires connecting the subs in the box came loose? It is the only thing I can think of.

okay.. everything is in how it should be. I rewired them to .5 ohms, and now when I use the multimeter it reads 2 ohms. I am thinking somebody switched the caps on the voice coils. However, that 1 sub still doesn't work. Are there ways to check for things that could have broken? Or am I stuck with 1 sub.

Also since only 1 is working and it is wired to 2 ohms, Does that mean I should cut my gain down by half? I set the gain for 40v. (if both were working). Thanks.

Oh yea if my LPF is set to 80hz, and my decks HPF is set to 80hz, what freq. should i center the decks eq to? 80 or 100?

So I wired that 1 sub only for 4 ohms. It still didn't budge. I can still flex the cone with my hand but I have no idea what to look for to fix it. Right now I am running the one working cvr at 2 ohms. Is it getting the full 750 or 375 watts? I don't know if the broken sub is taking up a channel or not.... just don't want to blow my sub or more importantly my amp. I also put the gain down to 20 volts instead of 40.

Well since you can't wire a D2 with both coils to 2 ohms, its probably not running at 2 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sounds like a tinsel broke on the non-functioning sub. Check both coils independently for resistance.

Okay will do. That makes sense it must be running on 4 ohms right now. I'll check the coils to see what it comes up with. What resistance should I come up with for each set of coils? Or will it just come up as nothing if a tinsel is broken.... If I find that I am not getting any resistance out of a voice coil, how do I check the tinsel? What does it look like and where exactly is it? Thanks again sorry I'm such an idiot but I have to learn somewhere.

Okay, I tested both sets of coils.... I got no reading off any of them. What could this mean? The leads coming off the 4 coils all look like they are in good shape......

Did you set the meter to resistance (Ohms) ?

The working coils should read just below 2 ohms.

The meter was on ohms and it never got off reading "1". I placed the negative on the negative and the pos. on the pos. of the same set of coils. I don't know what to do.

any ideas? Anything specific I should check for??? I don't know what to do, how much would it cost for somebody to look at it?

When I put the neg. and pos. on one coil at a time I get close to .5 ohms for every coil. Is that the way I check to see if they are working? I assumed I put the + on the + of sub, and the - on the - on the sub. I always got a reading of 1 when I did that.

One thing I am thinking of right now is that when I had them wired up before I had 14g to every coil on both subs and I "may" have had one wire that was 16g on this sub. Would that affect it at all?

If not, how would I go about taking off the dustcap of the CVR so I can take a look...

One coil, one positive, one negative. No wiring hooked up. This shows a 4 ohm coil's DCR reading.

Okay I can't figure this out for the life of me. Every coil gets a .5 reading and I am ready to tear the sub apart. How do I go about doing that, take the dustcap off? I poked around at it and I don't know where to start. All the wires coming off of the coils look like they are in good shape. If anyone can help me in taking it apart, any ideas on what to look for?
