one of my subs stopped while playing what would cause this and fix the problem

the subs are not overheating or blowing, I have spent around 2 hours ajusting the amps dials to make the best sounds for my taste. I know when a sub is over-powering, and I know that it isnt. I highly believe my gains are set properly.
there set so ****** proper that ur in here making a thread aabout one of ur subs stopping....either u take the advice we give u or u stfu and get the fuckk out

would the HO alt be a must have? or would I be able to pass off otherwise? I really dont want to custom fabricate mounts for it. Would the power cells be something acceptable?
You don't have to fabricate anything man, they'll either build you a direct bolt on replacement or if a bracket is needed they will include it.

Chill bro.... its VERY possible that the gains are NOT the root issue. Ill put money on his voltage is dropping and the amp is going in to low voltage protect

yes, lower the gains can help this, but he needs stronger electrical for that power.

sorry bro....but the gains will help yes he needs a new alt one with higher amps....but there have been 4 people already said turn ur gains down...ive seen 1800 done on stock electrical and yes there have been drops but no full shut offs for low voltage....his gains are the root of the issue i think....he is better turning them down and turning the head unit bass up and setting his gains properly with bass up on the deck....
if he refuses to set them lower and thinks there fine then let him blow the subs or amp....

still get something with 140amps or higher for ur alt

Im looking for advice and good direction. Im stating my opinion that I don't think the gains are too high. I can understand that turning them down would ease on my electrical. I had a hunch it was that my car couldn't keep up, I posted here to get info and help from other car audio enthuseists. If you want to sit here and yell, don't. I don't care to hear it. The input im getting in this thread is awesome, and I now know that my alternator is probably what will be swapped out. I also know that a power cell wont provide the power I need. Not right away atleast. Please add to the discussion rather than flame it.

not flaming at all but if u have 4 people telling u to turn them down because they are too high and u say no then ur not taking the advice given...yes its ur opinion and all but thats just it its not an opinion kinda help......u need to set them accordingly by either ur preout volts or the square root of the watts....even if u had a good alt and u left ur gains there u would still be sending a dirty signal

Im not going to argue with you. I will lissen to your point, and experiment with turning them down. I think one reason I need them set so high, is because the lack of voltage going to the amps is causing a lack of power. I am at an understanding that the more volts going into the amp, the higher the RMS out. I think that the alternator replacement would greatly help and would in turn allow me to get the same bass results from lower gains.

edit: someone please correct me if im wrong!

youre correct, with a bigger alt you can maintain a higher voltage to your amp which creates more power at the same amount of gain.(so you could get the same output at a lower gain level)

i think an ohio power (generator) alternator are good start i think thats the name of the company im sure someone will correct me if im wrong and they are some what reasonably priced im sure some can give you a link too
