one of my subs stopped while playing what would cause this and fix the problem

I have the following setup:

pioner AVH-P3300BT deck

two 12" kicker L7 subs dual 4 ohm 2008+ version

custom built ported box with 3 cube feet per chamber

two kenwood KAC-9104D amps

two 3 farad capacitors

Rockford dual amp wire kit

i have this problem:

While driving down a road, pushing my subs hard, my bass cut way down, and I had the feeling one sub had stopped. I pulled into a parking lot, and my left subwoofer was no longer pussing. I figured it was my amp, so i turned off my car, pulled the key out, and then restarted my car.

After doing all of this, the left subwoofer started working again. Im not sure of the problem, or how to fix this from happening again. Could it be that my voltage is dipping way too low? Or do I just need better amps? I like these amps and dont want to go out and buy new ones. My right subwoofer and my right amp is fine, but the left cut out on me! any help appreciated!

im assuming that you are running one amp on each sub and showing them a 2 ohm load, which means your running around 1800 watts on a stock electrical system 2 capacitors, thats part of your problem,

what are your gains and bass boost set at? im assuming that both of them are all the way or close to all the way up. which is probably another part of the problem.

and when the one sub cut off were there any protect lights or anything of the sort on on the amp.

you are correct on each of the amps running a single sub and showing 2 ohms. It was very bright out, and i could not make out any lights. I believe it was protect mode though, because I checked all of the wiring and it was all ok, and the other amp was still running. On the deck, i had loud boosting the lows, my sub level was at +1 (goes up to +6) and my bass boost was at 0, i never up the bass boost. the gain is about... 4/5 of the way up on the amp. I never run my gain all out.

I was thinking about getting a red top battery, and one or two of those bat cells would that help?

Gain is too high, and your electrical system isnt strong enough, you set the amp into protect bc of low voltage

you need to do the big 3 (look it up on here) and get an extra batt in the trunk or youre gonna fry ur amps or subs, or both

you need to turn your gians down and learn to set them with a DMM, unless your deck has very low preout voltages than you clipping your amps.

turn loud off. if you have an eq set it accordingly.

and have you ever checked you system with a DMM while playing. im betting your getting some wicked voltage drops.

your best be would be a yellow top under the hood and 1-2 deka 9a31s in the back, the dekas can be picked up on here for around 130.

and youll need to do the big 3 upfront as well.

This. At 1800w a better alternator isn't out of the question either...

I plan to do the big 3 this summer. and would power cells substitute for a second battery? I do not have the space in my trunk for a second battery. The space for the power cells is much thinner, or i would have put in more batteries already.

EDIT:

a new alternator is out of the question, I already have the biggest alternator that can be put in a SAAB car. I have looked into this one already.

i was running my 2200 on the big 3, a g31 and a 95a alt, it did fine till i dropped the amp to .5, now im getting ready to order a 220a powerbastards alt
I don't care what you or the next guy was running on what. That much power on a stock alternator WILL kill it. I bet if you popped your alt open and looked inside it, it would be blacker than yo mamma's shit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Batteries will only help once your voltage drops to their resting voltage, you need a stronger alt to keep it at 14.4V
