Well, I built my first ported box a few days ago and it SUCKED. Not enough port area and there was port noise GALORE. So I quickly built a sealed box for now.... I was pretty happy with how it sounded but everyone I've shown who actually knows something about stereos said "PORT EM!!!"

They are two Type-R 10's. I did some calculations and ran a few different ones through the REAUDIO calculator....

My LARGEST dimensions are 33W x 17H x 13.5D

Using the largest dimensions, and using the re calculator it came up with 2.82ft^3 net volume, with a 24.75" long 2.5" wide L-Port which is tuned to 35Hz.

I have a buddy that has had these 10's before and he recommended 1.2ft^3 each... so I did some more calculations....

If I use 33w x 15 x 13.5 with the same length/width port it would be tuned to 36hz and it would have a net volume of 2.46ft^3...

Just lookin to see what people on here who know what the hell they're talking about have to say about it....

PLEASE don't recommend "you need 2ft3 per sub mann".... my max dimensions are really my max dimensions....

Thanx!!!

that should work pretty well. it will be better than sealed. type R's like to be ported. the only other way i could suggest would be to do an aero/round port. 1.2 will work good, but it really depends on what type of music you like. that size is about perfect for rock, and especially metal. it's a tad small for someone who listens to strictly hip hop or bass dominated music, but they will still get low fairly well in 1.2. with an aero port you might be able to raise box volume a little if you'd like.

My other issue with this type of box is this:

Wouldn't sub 1 have more load on it than sub 2? Does that not matter? Always wondered where people put their single subs in those boxes, in front of the rear port wall, or more towards the open area after the port wall stops...

No dude, it will be fine.

Thanx guys, I think I'm gonna go for the largest dimensions, which yields like 2.8ft^3 net.... I listen to a lot of rap/bass type music....

I'm guessing about 32-35hz????
