I just checked my voltages and the starter battery is sitting at 12v and my ice battery is sitting at 13v. Does this mean I need a new starter battery and is is best not to have the 2 batterys connecting to each each other until I change the starter. thanx in advance

what kind of battery is the starter? If it is a normal lead-acid battery (i.e., not AGM or deep cycle and such), then it's normal for those to sit at 12V. Deep cycle, AGM's, and 'dry-cell's (I know they are not dry cell, but so many people call them this), tend to sit around 13V.

Yes the starter is a normal sealed lead acid type and the ice one is similar to the oddysey p2150. So I take it this is normal then. I though that the deep cycle one Ive got will float eventually at 12v

I had the same problem, my fuse box near my starter battery is what was causing it. It sucks, due to the bolts that held the fuse in, wasn't exactly holding the fuse. I got high 13 up to the fuse, and high 11s after it.
