alternator failure

It was most likely just a normal failure on the Alt. the Walmart pioneer amp did not kill it.

No need for a cap. Look up how to do the big 3, and get a better battery up front as well. You should be able to run that small of power without issue by doing that

if you want to get a better one there is a place out a little northwest of Ohare that could make a better one for about 50-60 more than a standard rebuild. Its called mgelectrical on Arthur street in Arlington heights.
