On/off switch

That's right. But there's no need to have the amp on if it's not going to be used, and if the switch and the connections are good, then using the RCA's will just be ignoring a potentially deeper issue with the vehicle.
It would pull about 1 amp of current at rest while powered on. I don't consider an aftermarket switch not working to be "a potentially deeper issue within the vehicle"

Reread what I said. If the switch IS working properly but it's still shorting, that means the switch isn't the problem. Switching to an inline RCA volume adjustment is just like a bandaid fix.

Reread the other posts. The Amp still turns off with the radio. The switch will not turn it off when the radio is on.

It's not just a bandaid fix.

Taco switch - I'll take beef with jalapenos and queso on hard shells.
Same for me, but no peppers. I don't like peppers, especially bell peppers. I do like jalapeno poppers though.

So what do you guys suggest I do? I don't have a ground wired to the switch because I could care less about it lighting up. If I accidentally connected the remote wire to the terminal on the switch that is supposed to be the ground, would that cause the problem I am having?

No, it should not, but weirder things have happened

this is still stuck apparently..

get us pictures of your actual switch, how it's wired, your input to your amplifier, and the wire you're tapping into as remote 12v.

Well I got it to work, but not sure how I did it. I just disconnected all the wires from the switch and put them back on nice and tight. So obviously there was a loose connection on the switch or something. I feel like such a ******* for such a simple solution, but hey at least it works now:) Thanks for all of the replies and help!

may you connected the negative cable to it and then you stick switch to your car.

as long as car itself has the negative, its always on.
