On/off switch

what are you using for the input for your switch and are you 100% sure that is exactly what you're using? it sounds like something is wired wrong up the line.

i dont know if he connected the wires together and got power the problem is with the switch in the switch or how switch is being wired...

i understand what you are doing and why.

if the switch doesn't turn the amp off then your remote wires are shorting, bypassing the switch. did you use insulated female disconnects? are any bare wire strands touching the switch housing? simply put - no bare copper should be visible anywhere.

Yes this is correct
Lust forget about the switch and install one of these inline with your RCA's. All the way down pretty much gives you no sound. It is also useful to match the sub level to what music you're listening to

How many leads come off of it? Could be a lighted switch that has 3 leads one for ground. Does the switch have 3 settings (up, center, down) or 2 up and down only?
Yes it is a lighted switch and had 3 leads coming off of it. The switch has 2 positions...Up and down

But that won't turn off the amp which is the whole point.

If even when the switch is off the amp stays on your remote wire is shorting somewhere, most likely on the switch housing. If you turn off your vehicle, flip the switch to the OFF position, and use a multimeter to test the continuity on the terminals of the switch, there should be no connection. If there is, you're shorting the switch housing or the switch is bad.

The whole point is he wanted an easy way to get rid of bass when his girlfriend rides in his truck. Don't need to turn the amp off to accomplish that.

That's right. But there's no need to have the amp on if it's not going to be used, and if the switch and the connections are good, then using the RCA's will just be ignoring a potentially deeper issue with the vehicle.
