On average what did you gain when you rounded the corners in your box

i have never heard of that.. i assume it would help eliminate.. have you done it or just thinking of doing it.. idk if it will be enough to be a huge effect..

I don't believe you gain DBs from rounding off the port. Unless you make everything in the port 45* angles to help port velocity remain high.

I doubt wholl find anyone who built a SETUP with a box with squared corners, got it meterred, then built the exact box or just added the corners and tried geting it meterred

It would be a goodthing for you do try for us though......

I doubt the gain is significant, so Ive never done it, and for the street, to me, it aint worth the hassle (I dont have good tools)

port noise = extreme air friction in the port to the point it's audible

whether you can hear it or not, there is always friction between the port air and the air outside of the box as well as the air in the compression chamber of the box. This is because you are squeezing a relatively large amount of air into a relatively small tube. So:

which do you think you can pump more water through: a fire hose? Or a little garden hose?

Smaller hose = higher pressure and therefore higher velocity of water in order to make up for the reduced surface area, but there will always be loss due to friction, so long as the pipe/hose/port whatever continues to remain fully pressurized. Otherwise there would be no reason to use anything bigger than a garden hose right? Because it would still pass the same amount of water, it just would move quicker in order to make up the lack of volume. The point where it is on the edge, just barely pressurized, and almost no longer pressurized, is where you've achieved maximum efficiency.

The reduction in friction created by having a flared or rounded port will increase output, but not as much as expanding the port area would.

Well I know a few locally but I want to see more than a few examples. they gained a substantial amount 2 to 5 db depending on how extreme they rounded the inside of the box out
