on a scale of 1 to bad how bad is this?

A decent Ground in that car is the bolt/rod that holds down that spare tire.take the tire out.sand down the metal/paint off, put a washer on, then the ground wire with a ring terminal, then another washer, and use a nut to bolt that joker down, and then you still have access to your spare tire in and out without worrying about the ground wiring coming loose, or taking it loose ect.I do this /have done in almost every car Ive owned with a spare tire well..seems to be a perfect ground every time for me/ never any issues.

i just quoted everyone in here to see everyone's opinion on this ground is it good or ******?

you are fusing to prevent the car from catching fire in the event your power wire shorts out to your frame, that is why you fuse to the maximum allotted amount of amps for the wire and fuse for that even if it's 0g wire 8' long you would fuse that for several hundred amps even if you only have a 500w amp on the other end.
Well you dont fuse it under the rating of the amplifier, guaranteed burnout. Better and stronger wire should have been and should be purchased regardless

well I didn't even bother to mention under fusing as your fusing for the wire and I assume we all know what wire we need to run it just seems everyone looks at the amp and fuses for it, I fuse for the wire and if at that point the fuse isn't large enough that means neither is the wire!

I still think that its improper wiring seeing as the fuse should have melted before the casing did...

It was fused right at the level that it turned the thin element in the fuse into a light bulb filament causing the fuse and case to melt under the heat that built over a few minutes of hard play then done several times and it would look like that.

It appears that there is just bare wire shoved under a piece of plastic and bolted down.. you will need to use a ring terminal or ground block for the ground wire. As far as the fuse holder goes, I would run all new wire and fuse for the wires max current just to be sure.

yeah it wasn't really a shop it was more a friend who helped put me in. who now works in a shop but it was before he did. i'm just gonna do it myself this time would this be ok? Hitron FH4KB 4 Gauge BLUE Wire, Fuse Holder, & Ring Terminal
and thanks for all the help i appreciate it
What shop does he work at? I want to be sure to avoid that place like the plague, I've seen better installs from Audio Express "Home of the $1 Wire Fire".
