Old technology vs. New technology

To all who read this thread, what are your opinions about amplifiers using the older technology in the 1990's vs the newer technology vs. 2000's? Does it always mean that older is better? There are a lot of people on this forum who have bought their amplifiers in the 2000's and have used them for the last 5-7 years even though they are made in China, Korea, Taiwan, etc. A few people will stand by their Kicker, JL Audio and other brand amps made in Korea or Taiwan. What is your opinion?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Other than the widespread use of SMDs, I don't see the fundamental technology of Class A/B amplifiers changing much, certainly not in the last decade.

There's some neat stuff being done with switching topologies...those Arc Minis impressed me quite a bit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Subwoofers are less effecient now than back in the day.........
But most handle tons more power

old equipment tended to have more pride put into it. companies loved their work. now its hard to find that because of the crap economy, even when the companies outsource.

dedication in America is gone, its all personal growth...no more unification for a better product or skill.

meh, what can you do?

if there wasn't a market for crap equipment, they'd go out of business. seems to me that the consumer is to blame.
