original 8w6's were awesome. I had 4 in an s-10 of a reference 1000s and it was chest collapsing goodnessI am almost complete with my system in my silverado, i just need to pick which subs i want to run. I love old school subs and i wanted to know what you guys would do, and which would earn more respect. I am torn between the old school 10 flat ppi subs and the old school 8w6v1. Ive ran the ppi's but not the w6. i love the old school original subs because of how rare they can be, anyone else old school??? let me know what you think!! thanks fellas
OEM manufacturers: http://credencespeakers.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?The 25th anv chrome basket solo bariacs!! RARE!!!
round solobarics hell yes.The HCCA old school amps were awesome!! i had a 225, talk about underrated! those amps were a lot of fun because they could go to a real low impedance before any other amps could. I remember the xtr's but never ran them, i was also thinking about the round solo bariacs or xpl's???
The PPI Pro's were very nice for their day. The carbon fiber/nomex flat cone, ferrofluid cooled motor and extremely shallow custom frame made them quite an advance piece of equipment. Three 8's would be a rare find indeed. A single 15 would be nice too, as they had a considerably larger motor than the smaller versions. No one liked the flat PPI's ?????
Either way that'll be an awesome setup. It amazes me how little power you needed to get big numbers from such little drivers (small magnets).I remember the old 18 inch kicker comps, My buddy had a single one in a hatchback and it took your breath away. Its hard enough to find a PPI PRO in 4 ohm, let alone three of them in good condition. Im working on 3 10w6 right now, we'll see what happens.
