Old school CVR's

I've got 2 old school CVR's lying around, they're the black ones with a deeeeeeep cone and no ridges. The amps I have now are these -

Diesel NS-7004 (crap)

I'm not totally sure what RMS it'd do at 2 ohms (the subs are d4) but I'm totally sure that the amp is dick.

Kenwood KAC-7201

I like this one more. It's less dick. Only problem is, it does 230w @ 2 ohms, but 460 @ 4.. but the 4 ohms is bridged, and I can only wire a single sub to 2 or 8 ohms.

So the question is this -

I have 2 boxes - 1 for a single ported 12", and 1 for 2 sealed 12"s. I could do 2 sealed CVR's (which is gey) but get more total wattage. Or I could do a single ported CVR, but only give it 230w from the kenwood. I'm pretty sure it'd go louder the second way.

Any suggestions?

Why is running two CVR's sealed gay? Two CVR's sealed off of 460W > One CVR ported with 230W -- in terms of average SPL across the sub-bass region. You might be able to get more peak output over a narrow bandwidth in the ported enclosure (depending on size and tuning), but the sealed option will be louder across a wider range of frequencies.
Also, in order to really make a determination of what option is best, we need to know box sizes (and tuning for ported).

I was always under the impression that 2 sealed

do sealed, and the coils from each sub in parallel so its 2 ohms a sub, then series the sub to sub connections and you get 4 ohms from them and you have 460 onto both subs sealed it should get pretty loud.

Naw, it'd give me 460 total :

I was always under the impression that 2 sealed When comparing the same power input, yes; a single ported sub is often just as loud (or louder), but if you only have half the power going to the ported option, then everything changes.
The ported box is around 2.5 cu ft, tuned to 36 or so hz. The sealed box looks like 1.25 cu ft/chamber.
Yep... go sealed if you want it louder across most of the bandwidth, or go ported if you want a narrow peak that might get a few dB louder than the sealed option.

Aighties then I'll go resolder the tinsel lead or whatever to the sub sub, since somehow my friend managed to get it to pop off without touching the sub itself. Now all I gotta do is find an 8 ga inline fuse holder...
