OLD school 3 ohm kicker comps, .........wha??

I need some information if anyone knows about 12" 3 ohm kicker comps from way back in the old school with a felt dustcap. Anyone know about them?

Looks like they might have come out of a pre-loaded enclosure. You know, the ones with the horns in them?

Sorry, I don't have any solid info on those. I just know that I never saw any raw drivers that didn't have black baskets back in the day.

What year were the felt dustcaps? I know they changed to all kevlar/poly at some point.

My friend used to have a set of those back in highschool in the late 90s... yes they came from full-range preloaded Kicker boxes that also had two 2" x 6" horns. They're rated at 4 ohms each btw, handles a wee bit less power than Kicker Comps but has a smoother midrange response since it was running full-range. They were in a ported box, the port was 2 1/2" in diameter and 9 inches long and I think they had like 1.5 cf each.

I do remember that it sounded pretty good in the 88 grand Am two door bumping 2Pac's California Love, the girls in our highschool were all like "ohhh bass!" and we were using the factory stereo to run it haha.

Thanks for the info, but note the model number 1203 12 inch, 3 ohm. They are 3 ohm and read it dead on the money.

Good ish, i had the black basket ones without the felt. Maybe the felt was offered as part of the pre-loaded thing.

These are like giant 12 inch midbass. They are SO MUSICAL. Very lightweight and quick, even with no motor behind them. I have them on a Coustic 460 bridged to 250 RMS and playing RUSH Tom Sawyer and they were almost humming the notes they were so musical. I dropped them into my IS300 in place of my MBQ DVC's and they were slightly less loud on the 250 watt Coustic amp than what I am used to (I usually run 600 RMS through a PPI Art 600.2 in mono through twin DVC Quart 10's so...duh!), but they sounded SO musical. They really fill in the blanks well and they do still kick like 12's, just more like 12's on low power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm really happy to have heard them, but I'm not sure if they will stay in or not. I like the little tens box in my IS300, and 12's are a bit cumbersome. I am happy to be drawing much less power off my electrical though.
