Old alternator all good. Install Mechman 270 and whine

Are the pulleys the same and is there belt slack (loose)?

I had a whine noise too when I first swapped my alt. found out the belt was loose. Try to redo the belt over and make sure its nice and snug.

Most likely need a shorter belt and new tensioner if its not a brand new car...ho alt pulleys are smaller causing slack if ur stock belt stretched any

1977 Chevy 1/2 ton original owner. I should have be more clear, the whine isn't from the beky;

So you are getting whine through the speakers?

Yes whine is getting to the amp feed some how and then to the speakers. Ground is 4 gauge bolted to the frame and 4 gauge power line is run away from the signal RCAs and speaker signal wires. Amp is Ample Audio I just got from inferno and I think its GTG. Do I just need better RCA's? Odd for me to swap out alternators and have this issue. Maybe some one has experienced it. Thanks

Sounds like u have a bad alt if u can swap it out for another and it's fine. I'd send it back to Mechman, and order an excessive amperage hehehe

It could be since you have an older chevy the new alt may have a grounding screw behind the casing.

Newer models have no need since they ground from the block.
